I worked at Swisscom full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Competetive salaries, excellent fringe benefits - a Swiss company that has recently merged to become the largest IT employer in not only Switzerland but also in central Europe. Swisscom is an excellent employer, with many opportunities for employees that know how to make the most of their skill set. They encourage you and take care of their employees.

    Cons

lower management is pretty much hit and miss - the manager I had was a huge narcissist and a pain to work with. But not to worry - he's gone now...

I have been working at Swisscom full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

In general a good salary and fringe benefits. There are many interesting projects going on.

    Cons

Very chaotic. Management pushes employees around without any concern and looses good people all the time. Many redundant processes and many that fail to work proper, so a lot of red tape and manual work to get things working. HR process is a disaster. Really a disaster. Applications do not get forwarded, no feedback - and often can take months before you hear more. Add to that that they seem more busy with helping management to get rid of good people than to find qualified personal. Middle Management is partly a disaster. Partly in the sense that some area do have good team leader, middle management, but others not. I have failed to see any of the many reorganizations to solve that issue. It is hard to make any career. The talk with management and planning for the future is not taken seriously. People are moved around, and your career is your own business, management don't care at all.

I have been working at Swisscom full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

A winners mentality. Strong market position, continuous efforts to stay on top in terms of service quality and product innovation. Very good employer (salary, fringe benefits, work-life balance). An agile and easy to work with company compared to other telcos (less politics, accessible top management).

    Cons

Still slow compared to younger, infrastructure-less companies. Little growth perspectives in general (but still good growth in specific niches).

I have been working at Swisscom full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

They pay well, good fringe benefits. Good job security.

    Cons

Bad work/life balance. Many people gone sick, burnout. No good educational plan. Most middle management do not care one bit about the employees. The company is chaotic and loose good people often. Top management have a strategy - the employees hear about it - don't see/feel/live it.
