    Pros

    Good people to work with.
However, the upper management made the employees not want to do their best

    Cons

Bad management for a non-profit organization.

I worked at Switchboard of Miami full-time

    Pros

It is rewarding to know you are helping someone else who thinks and feels that their live is worth quitting on. The co-workers are truly the only people who have your back .

    Cons

Pay is very low for the stress you handle.
Management is horrible. Starting from HR ,they do not have your back , they do not care to reward their staff. They do not care to take their time to make sure all employees are doing okay. As I mentioned your only back bone is the employee sitting next to your cubicle.

    Advice to Management

Stop worrying about your pay only and your time in that depressing atmosphere you have your employees under. Praise and listen to those actually taking those stressful calls.

I worked at Switchboard of Miami full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Lots of great employees, sincerely care for the community needs! Work is under deplorable conditions created by the management ( leadership is funded in treating the excellent professionals in a deplorable, unfair manner less than respectful.
Unfortunately the organization will continue to spin down until the horrible CEO is replaced ( I am sure there is a place in hell in need of services).

    Cons

Management is based in their personal needs.Cases of suicide and homicide among their employees!
Management do nothing to keep the labor condition pleasant or offer the basics for such hazardous jobs.

    Advice to Management

cease to exist, the world do not gravitate around your figure! Treat all with respect, no should pay for your own frustrations, but you!

    Pros

    -Starting pay is decent
-It's very rewarding work and you get to make an actual difference in the lives of your clients
-Great resume builder, for some reason they have a good reputation in the community...until you actually work there and understand that everything that glitters isn't gold.
-Employee Benefits, PTO and retirement plan options

    Cons

-Poor Management from the top down
-No contingencies for life in the rules (e.i. Being late because of fixing a flat tire and calling ahead will still get you a warning or Calling Out because of physical illness getting not being considered a legitimate reason when there are FMLA laws)
-Since it is a Non-profit, depending on what department you work in, they may ask you to do things that are outside of your job description with no additional compensation. They make it sound optional, but it you don't want to, the attitude from management towards you turns sour.
-Management creating a stressful environment and having a lack of empathy for personal development and true self-care (even though they claim that they care about self-care)
    -No sick days
-Lack of funding has them no paying employee insurance some months, which causes you to have to pay out of pocket and wait on their potential "reimbursement"
-No compartmentalization with management, including Human Resources. Many of them have been here for years and have personal relationship, making it hard to address employee issues appropriately when concerning one of their co-worker (a.k.a. "friends)

    Advice to Management

-Change the rules to the include contingencies for employee life.
-Respect employees and actually appreciate what they do with the same frequency and intensity that you reprimand employees for the small things.
-Always sick days, because humans actually do get sick sometimes

    Pros

The organization (some employees) do a terrific work, (information and referrals), crisis Management and Suicide Prevention!

    Cons

If you expect to be treated fairly (not even well),this is not the organization!
Bring cookies, cups, plates , silverware and hope that the crazy woman that works there , does not trow it all in the garbage.
Treatment received by employees by the administration is very abusive, disrespectful and inconsiderate, There is only space for one only super inflated CEO "EGO" and of course together 2 or 3 followers.

    Advice to Management

be fair, honest and transparent, treat employees with respect (you already lost to many key people there). Careful not be the only one standing with empty hands and a bag full of lips service.

    Pros

I been with Switchboard since the 90's. One of the things I have seen that I don't see at other agencies is the organization has you're back. I have had colleagues in my history who have gotten sick and been out for extended periods and been able to return months later. I have also had colleagues who have left then realized what they gave up was unique. Where else do you find a place that covers the cost of your Health Care Coverage completely with a gap insurance policy included. Not only that its great coverage. I have read some heinous reviews on here, just makes me sad to read and if one of you is reading this please just let it go and take them down. If you were unhappy write about it but no need to be like the enquirer.

    Cons

Choose the field you work in carefully, it will not help you to be on the front lines of such pain if you are not in a place were you can emotionally handle it. Also like anyplace you work their can be personality conflicts but that is individual not systemic of Switchboard.

    Advice to Management

Keep upgrading the facility, it can be a little dreary at times being under a garage but other wise would not trade Switchboard for anything.

    Pros

We save people's lives. Co-workers are really good people. HR listens. Great benefits.

    Cons

There isn't always a place to move to for advancement. Compensation might be comparable with other organizations, but it's not to for-profits.

    helps people in need

    Cons

Management would be well placed in a communist or dictatorship political system. Do not even think about expressing your concerns or points of view. You will placed in their chamber tortures, to the point that your working place will be a living real.

    Advice to Management

Be real, be honest, be caring, have compassion and treat your employees with respect and dignity. ( they deserve and work hard for it). Do what is supposed to be done: Give them all equal opportunities and rights, be and respectful at the work environment.

I have been working at Switchboard of Miami full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Co-workers are great, and the work can be rewarding at times.

    Cons

Its not the work, its the management. TRUST all of the other "negative" reviews you read about switchboard. They all echo the same message, management will not care about you. Working in the call center is like working in a concentration camp. Everything you do is policed, from whether your coffee cup has a lid, or if you go get coffee that counts as your 15 minute break, or if they call you to "ask" if you can cover a shift and you say no..they threaten your job. The initial training by Demian is great. But after that the Helpline Department takes over and they could care less about continuing training. We now have a new manager in charge that went from being a regular counselor to SENIOR Manager in less than 12 months. The Chief will promote and retain anyone that he finds attractive. Which if you happen to be an older male, preferably large (like a bear), and have facial hair, or you are a young latin skinny male you will be set, just wink at him when he passes by. The location is a run down, old, moldy, smelly, dirty basement under a parking garage. NO ONE in Senior Management CARES what or how you feel. Unless you are about to be homeless, and are begging for money don't work here. STAY AWAY. If you choose to work here anyways, good luck! Don't say no one told you so, when you realize how bad it really is.

    Advice to Management

Get your head out of your behind, and look at what the real issues are.

    Pros

The best reasons to work at Switchboard of Miami are: It is a fun place, the staff is very cooperated with a lot of growth opportunity.

    Cons

I do not have anything to say about them in a negative way.

    Advice to Management

They still manage this facility greatly. They always have new ideas to share to each other. The CEO and Staff are respectful.
