    Negative Outlook

I have been working at Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

9-5, great way to get a start in clinical trials

    Cons

What you depends entirely on the specialty. You can go from department to department trying to finally actually take on a more challenging role but nothing will get done and you will have wasted your time.

    Advice to Management

    Pay full-time staff more.

    Positive Outlook

I worked at Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center part-time for more than a year

    Pros

I was a graduate student who signed on to help with a public health study. Pros include: able to work on new and innovative project(s) with different studies, be a part of a grassroots initiative for public health, gain decent experience

    Cons

Management isn't fully honest, nor are they involved with their proxy employees, logistics like hours, income, site distances are more volatile in practice than when you sign up for the job. Kind of a stressful work environment, even as a proxy

    Advice to Management

Be honest with employees about the amount of hours the job necessitates, about the likelihood the projects will start on time, regularly check in with the RAs doing field work, care about how their life will change with the commitment to the job

    Negative Outlook

I worked at Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Satilittes are great to work in

    Cons

Low pay for position s. No raises for any reason. If you are a physician they ask you to lower your pay rate by 10%

    Advice to Management

Listen to your managers and directors. It’s very hard to work when consistently over worked because the Top doesn’t want to hire the people needed

    No opinion of CEO

I have been working at Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Good benefits. Higher education benefits. Vacation time, sick time, floating holidays, most holidays off. Very nice looking and clean facility. Very good at researching cancer and treating cancer. Lots of good people work here, that's excluding all management.

    Cons

Highly micro-managed. You have to pay for parking. Cafeteria is expensive. If you want to be promoted, you either have to know someone or do a lot of "sucking up". Those who get promoted usually have very little, to no management/charge/director experience. Depending on how your department is staffed or ran, trying to take advantage of the education benefit is like pulling teeth out of an alligator's mouth. The appearance...

    Advice to Management

Stop promoting people who were trained by those who they will now be in charge of. It's a slap in the face for those who have been there for decades. Hire or promote people with experience in that field, for example, don't hire/promote a floor nurse to run radiology and don't hire/promote a Chemo nurse to run an operating room. Listen to your employees' concerns, even if you don't like it, don't pretend to listen and...
