New management is focused on new products and services to develop growth and long term viability for the company. Good pay, work/life balance, and nice benefits. Lots of smart people.

    Cons

Restructuring product lines, organizational structures, and job roles is disruptive and causing some angst in the rank and file.

    Advice to Management

Continue to communicate the long term strategy, and minimize the disruption caused by restructuring

I have been working at Symantec full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    - The company now offers MTO.
    - They host several events with food and beverage provided.
    - Nice facilities
    - Offers bonuses to full time employees
    - 401K matching

    Cons

    - Too many politics that corrupt the culture.
    - Too often I've seen great employees be let go and not so great employees stay.
    - Work from home is not a standard practice.

    Advice to Management

Take the time to reach out to your employees and make an impact. Understand their concerns and don't set demands of expectation without support.

I worked at Symantec full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Some of the pros of working at Symantec are: working with smart people and industry experts. Good team culture even though leadership has not integrated all the different companies from acquisitions. Depending on which team you are on, there are pros and cons.

    Cons

Some of the cons are usual for large companies. Lots of politics and interests. People tend to think of themselves rather than the best for the company. This is definitely a con for someone who doesn't want to play politics.

    Advice to Management

Advice to work on product integration and promoting from within the groups. A lot of smart people who do not get visibility because of small minded middle management.

I worked at Symantec full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Salary, work-life balance (kept cancelling our projects so there was never any work to actually complete)

    Cons

From day one people from all departments I interacted with would make jokes about the impending doom (layoffs) that are apparently common at Symantec.

    Advice to Management

    Value your people
