I worked at Symmetry Medical full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

For the most part they had modern High Tech equipment capable of manufacturing complex designs, which unfortunately went under-utilized for the most part.

    Cons

What happened at Symmetry NB is what is wrong with our country, greed has become the bottom line, not just to management, but even the floor. While the biggest concerns should have been quality and efficiency, by Wednesday the question on some minds was about weekend overtime.
I spent almost 20 years at this facility and on any weekend it was the same people who strove to make that time and a half bonus. Monday we were left to clean up the scrap and broken tools left behind by inconsiderate "Associates who could care less about quality and were basically there for the check.
From Fortune 400 to miserable failure .A warning to those still employed in med manufacturing, read the writing on the wall.

    Advice to Management

I tried for 20 years to get through to management they know what's right and wrong but they follow the flock over the cliff, buh-bye.

I have been working at Symmetry Medical full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Good company overall, small company with a corporate environment. A clear hierarchy of management.

    Cons

Company has undergone 6 executive changes/ acquisitions in 6 years.

    Advice to Management

Change is good. Carefully re-evaluate all positions, especially upper management.

I worked at Symmetry Medical full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good health insurance and some good benefits.

    Cons

They have several employee surveys. This is a good thing, but when they are informed over and over about poor management, they do nothing. CEO is not sincere and doesn't seem genuine. Appears to just like the title and the perks that come with his job. Needs to come down to employees level and actually know them by name.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees and get some better levels of management.

    Pros

Great people! Overall fun environment to be in because of the people, flexibility to learn new things and move to different areas

    Cons

Management was awful. Not everyone had the same set of rules, pay was bad compared to other companies in the area. A lot of coworkers with inappropriate relationships

    Advice to Management

Treat your employees well. I was once told that I was replaceable. That doesn't make me want to work for you. You're all about making the company better, but sit in your office all day unless you want to jump down someone's throat about what they could be doing better. That makes your employees hate being there. Not a place anyone wants to be in after a period of time.

I worked at Symmetry Medical full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

I had S ome of the best coworkers here. Not that much overtime or working Saturdays: good work/life balance. They were pretty lenient and flexible with schedules.

    Cons

They had layoffs every year and did not give out yearly raises. The pay was crap, management were the only ones rewarded and did nothing. The whole month would have no work to do until the end of the month. Flow of work wasn't managed properly.

    Advice to Management

Start making your employees feel appreciated. They need to create a better work flow and not rush everything until the end of the month. Management never did anything or controlled the processes. Things weren't done correctly just to get product out of the door.

I have been working at Symmetry Medical full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Manufacturing employees, hours of shifts, paid breaks, benefits, overtime abundance, ability to move around to other departments

    Cons

Company direction, management communication, lack of leadership, inconsistent training, compensation not competitive with most companies, turnover of key team members (engineers, managers, leaders, etc).

    Advice to Management

Value employees more, pay competitive salaries for valuable members and young, uprising prospects, hire more individuals with necessary skill sets to perform tasks (engineering, leadership) instead of first and cheapest available.
