I worked at Synagro full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The people at the facilities are who make this company great. There is a lot to learn about a unique industry.

    Cons

Consistency, communication and developement among leadership was always needed. There was a lot of turnover while I was there. I hope this has improved.

    Advice to Management

Continue to focus on your people. Improve communication gaps.

I worked at Synagro (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Synagro offers services to their customers and the general population which truly make a difference now and for future generations. The ultimate in 'recycling'. I truly felt like I was helping to make our environment and the world a better place.

    Cons

Low employee moral. Huge disconnect between corporate office and field employees.

    Advice to Management

The services Synagro offers provides most employees with rewarding field positions, but until/unless the corporate folks get out to see the field employees in action and witness the operational struggles and can truly understand and identify, the overall employee moral will continue to suffer and turnover rates won't improve. It'll continue to be an 'us vs. them' culture. Your field employees' work ethics, struggles and dedication are your bread and butter. You need to wake up!!

I worked at Synagro full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Pockets of good & capable people

    Cons

Poor leadership with no direction. Constant executive turnover. Management doesn't treat employees, any role or level, with respect.

    Advice to Management

Stop preaching Values. A new 'meeting cadence' will not solve the company issues!

    Pros

    People (other than upper management)

    Cons

The upper management preaches, yet has no values!

    Advice to Management

Only Synagro HR would respond to her own review (Featured Review) with a response! The biggest fake people you ever could meet!!

    Pros

Started out good, went downhill fast

    Cons

no raises at our location for 5 years, total disconnect from upper management. expected to be on call 24/7 even if on vacation. no appreciation at all1!! left company and was treated like a criminal.. dedicated over 7 years and that's how I was treated. best thing to happen to me was another job

    Advice to Management

show some appreciation to your workers, they pay your salary!

I have been working at Synagro full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Lots of overtime, decent starting salary, small crew, plant operator status, but occasionally maintenance crew. Overtime makes up for mediocre pay.

    Cons

Job progression is lacking, starting salary is your base salary for the next few years (infrequent raises). M-F 8hr shifts makes for long weeks and sometimes cause weekend work days.

    Advice to Management

Competitive wages and infrequent raises are contributing to our quick turnarounds and lack of long term employment.

I have been working at Synagro full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Some of the disconnect has been resolved and things are moving in the right direction. Pay raises 2 years in a row! Maybe we are turning the corner to success!

    Cons

Still a few roadblocks out there making it difficult to do our jobs.

    Advice to Management

People! We are a service industry! Without good people, good employees, dedicated individuals we will fail! Make employees one of our company values and we will be successful.

    Former Employee - Anonymous Employee
    Former Employee - Anonymous Employee

    Pros

There are no pros at this company - none!

    Cons

Synagro is the worst place I have ever worked! When you come on board they make you feel like the organization cares about you and that they really believe in their Permission to Play Values. However, you quickly learn that the company does not live by them and that they are merely there to make them look good and attract new employees. The turn over rate is the worst I have ever seen. If you have a concern don't bring it to HR. They will make you feel that you are the one with an issue and that you better watch your back. Horrible place to work!

    Advice to Management

    Show respect for others!
