I have been working at Synchrony Financial full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Strong, smart management, lots of women in key roles, highly diverse, moving forward quickly on digital and innovation

    Cons

Matrix org has it's challenges. Many thinking about functions, not holistically.

    Advice to Management

Ensure long-range planning is pushed down through the organization. Still rather reactive.

I have been working at Synchrony Financial full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Sense of community. People genuinely care about doing their job. Excellent location away from all the city craziness. Great pay and benefits. There is a sense that anyone can move up or move laterally. Lots of exposure to upper management and opportunities to interact and grow. Lots of recognition and fun initiatives. Truly awesome people.

    Cons

Upper management seems disconnected from the struggles of the lower levels of the organization. Terrible managers get promoted because they exploit their teams and get recognition, so they are seen as shining stars, and there is no way to safely say something about this imbalance. Feels like people can't do anything to change the situation without risking their job. It's a shame because some people are building their careers without much knowledge of the teams they are supposed to lead, getting all the credit from the work put in by others.

    Advice to Management

Pay close attention to anonymous surveys, if there seems to be a lot of frustration below the surface it's because there are no avenues to point out terrible managers that make it not so great to work here. Really love the company and the culture and would love to see the bad apples leave the rest of the working bees alone!
