    Good Teams formed over long time. Good cooperation between people observed.

    Mixed messages at times from different departments...

    Better cooperation between departments needed. Big organisation with lot's of experienced profesionals shall deliver more clear structure and rules.

    Really good place to work a few years ago

    Changed for the worse around the time Exxon took control of management

    High Pay. Lots of responsibility and experience. Opportunity to move around departments and try different jobs

    Work life balance low during high stress times. Understaffed.

    I have been working at Syncrude full-time

    Pros

    Everyone has a safety first approach to operations which made me feel good working there

    Cons

    Management does not listen well to problems occurring in operations. Plant itself is very sorry from coke dust and chemicals

    Flexible Schedule,
    Great office environment
    Great learning experience
    Caring and supportive mentors

    not always enough work to be occupied
    Was unable to use mentor and supervisor as reference people for further employment opportunities

    Overall wonderful working experience at Syncrude, I have no solid advice as I truly enjoyed my time working there.

    Pros

    Interesting technology, lots of projects, turnarounds are fun to work on, not so much the project groups.

    Cons

    Slow depending on job position

    Management was good. I really enjoyed working for 5 out of 6 of my managers.

    Cons

    Nepotism is rampant. Management not always completely honest, not much hope to advance without having a "Dutch Uncle",

    Advice to Management

    Suncor will streamline everything and promote based on merit, rather than golf game.
