    Negative Outlook

I have been working at Synergy Legal Professionals (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great pay and great atmosphere. Staff is courteous and nice. Office location very nice and in a great location.

    Cons

Sometimes the projects can vary in length. Some projects last up to 4 months, some project last a mere couple days. Also, sometimes the documents take a long time to load into the database.

    Advice to Management

Try to have the documents load faster, and communicate to the staff if there os going to be enough documents to justify even coming into the office for the day.

    Pros

Nice office space close to the train station, professional team leads, and good level of communication about project duration.

    Cons

None; except for the fact that it isn't permanent employment, so you never know how long you will have work

    Pros

Free Coffee and tea and on occasion, continental breakfast.

    Cons

The full-time, salaried, Huron staff treats the review attorneys like second-class citizen and most of them aren't even attorneys. Segregated refrigerators are the tip of the iceberg.

    Advice to Management

Treat the contract attorneys like actual human beings.

    Pros

$20 an hour and overtime is available most of the time.

    Cons

--They may pay $20 an hour per project but rarely is a project available.
--It is possible to officially become an employee and work just one week out of 3 months.
--This is not a company to be taken seriously. If you graduate from law school and need a pet project before you find a "real" job, give them a call.
--Very unstable work hours....you may have been told that a project will last 2wks and in reality is last 2 days.
--Management cancel projects sometimes minutes before you start work for the day.....no heads up given whatsoever.
---Imagine this -- you are sent an email that says a project is available and it will last two weeks. Then they tell you to arrive at 9am and be on time. You're sitting in the parking lot at 8:50am when you get an email (through your cell) that the project has been cancelled ---go home. That really sucks.

    Advice to Management

Be more professional. If a project is cancelled, give employees proper notice. Giving notice minutes before the start of the workday is very unprofessional.

    Pros

There is a lot of flexibility with your work schedule

    Cons

Because it is contract work, its not always stable.

    Advice to Management

    Keep of the good work.

    Pros

Synergy legal professionals serves as a great segway into the legal workforce. The company offers great temporary employment as you attempt to secure a permanent legal position.

    Cons

The only downfall about working for Synergy legal professionals is that the contract duration isn't certain. You may be prepared to work for three weeks, but learn after week one that the contract is complete.

    Advice to Management

The only advice I can offer Synergy management is better communication on the duration of the contracts. Some people communte to the contract location and only desire contracts for longer periods of time.

    Pros

Great flexibility, so you can balance the demands of your life (family, solo practice, bar study) with work.

The people are generally very pleasant to work with.

    Cons

The pay has not changed at all since I've worked there ($20/hr). Some people get paid a little more, depending on whether or not they're doing QC work or other work.

    Advice to Management

Get at least half of the projected amount of data loaded onto the review platform before bringing people on the project. Get a clear idea on how long the project will last. Then hire people to work daily, straight through, and finish the project instead of having them come in at the drop of a hat when work is available, and sending them home mid-day if work runs out. Raise the salary.

Current Employee - Document Review in Houston, TX

    Pros

The primary reason that I work for Synergy Legal Professionals is that they offer better compensation than other entry level jobs in other industries.

    Cons

Synergy Legal Professionals places employees with Huron Consulting Group exclusively. There are no advancement opportunities for the vast majority of the employees and there are no performance reviews. I have been with the company for over one year and have yet to get a review or be offered a raise.

    Advice to Management

I would advise management to learn some basic management skills, as well as basic human interaction skills. The vast majority of the management team walks around without even looking at or acknowledging the non-management employees.
