I have been working at Synopsys full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Though Synopsys overall is a pretty conservative outfit, there's plenty of opportunity to introduce new ideas etc. (as long as you're not rocking the boat).

    Cons

Don't feel that career development is really a focus. Sure, promotions are possible, but if you want to expand and enhance your career it's largely up to you.

    Advice to Management

Once a year review process doesn't cut it.

I have been working at Synopsys full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

There is nothing Pro here. Except people smile and pretend to be friendly. I am here on my 5th year. Promotion is hard to get. Salary of application engineers are less and jobs are moving to India. Very few hiring in this group. Before there was CAE and AE roles. Soon these two groups will merge. Expect more layoffs.

    Cons

Layoffs are quite often, Long working hours, Team aren't friendly, abusive, can't report to HR either , HR is with nexus with Manager

    Advice to Management

    Management totally sucks.

I have been working at Synopsys full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    - Great San Francisco Location with office looking out to AT&T Park
    - A rock solid mothership business with seemingly infinite patience
    - So mismanaged and flush with cash that even the worst employees are given their full bonuses
    - Sales team is a well-oiled machine being run by an industry veteran and instills a sense of discipline in each of their roles

    Cons

    - By far, this most dysfunctional, political, and wildly optimistic i.e. blind executive team I've ever seen. While the BU has Integrity in its name, the same cannot be said for this highly political, highly paranoid, and departments that not only do not work well together, but flat out hate each other
As soon as options vest - the smart people are out the door. I'm quite surprised that more oversight isn't put on our BU.

    Advice to Management

Most modern tech companies are relatively flat - with the sharing of information and collaboration flowing from all sides of the building. Here, there is fear that talking to someone without permission could land you in trouble. Projects slip or simply disappear and there is zero accountability.
My advice would be for Synopsys leadership, not the BUs, talk to the employees, take a look at the way things operate. Stop the spending spree, hire someone who can manage that BU, then stop and see how all those fancy new toys you bought can be brought to market quickly six

    Pros

    Healthy work-life balance. Interesting projects.

    Cons

Semiconductor industry is shrinking and so is new technology in Synopsys.

    Advice to Management

Employees could be encouraged to change role/responsibilities by moving to a different department.
