    Pros

People. The company as a whole felt like a team. Competitive benefits. Positive and constructive criticism to help you grow.

    Cons

Working in a small town, advancement opportunities locally were few and far between. Smaller locations so vacation dates would conflict with one another.

    Doesn't Recommend
    Neutral Outlook
    No opinion of CEO

I worked at Synovus full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

just a matter of time before sell-out
Spiritual, Christian organization (good for those of us into that, anyway)
Columbus, GA management and support staff are genuine people with good hearts
They try to make lower level employees feel appreciated
Time off and benefits were decent (good, not great)

    Cons

just a matter of time before sell-out
bad to no training for us lenders
lenders have NO IDEA what they are doing, little training, heavy goals & pressure
very limited scope of services for medium & larger business customers (bad if you're commercial banker!) - this is a small business bank that doesn't even realize it.
office politics & deception (mostly with the lending & sales roles & middle managers)
Tickmarks, tickmarks, tickmarks (nothing learned from Wells Fargo's woes)
So. many. fake. people (outside the Columbus, GA area anyway)
Too many chiefs, most of whom have no proper training or polish for their job roles
Management & leadership positions either filled externally or by those with political and/or family connections (definitely feels like the "good ole boy" system at Synovus)
    High productivity workers rarely promoted
Female and minority workers literally almost never promoted
White male dominated & women are treated like "assistants" even when they have higher-level job roles
Non-existent HR department, all outsourced to ADP and complaints to HR almost always backfire on the complainant (whistleblowers ignored, fired, or pushed out)

    Advice to Management

Start over; eliminate all the "divisional CEOs" & "market presidents" and "area team leaders" - way over-bloated with middle management people here FULL OF EGO and empty of genuine concern for the company, the customer, and the staff
