I worked at Syntel full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Its better than being unemployed or working at Mcdonalds

    Cons

Take the bottom of market range and subtract 20%, and that's what you'll get offered. In 2017 still offering 13 days Sick/Personal/Vacation, and even that has to be accrued. Healthcare costs are very high and benefits nebulous

    Advice to Management

Treating US employees like those in India with the same set of benefits is laughable. The moment visa holders understand they are being ripped off, they'll jump ship to a reputable company

management sucks, employees will rather butter managers rather than performing well. Lot of power in managers hand who exploit ti wrong way, give every thing to favorites. Place where no. of managers are almost half of the resource count.

    Advice to Management

Get rid of these bad habits or the company will sink

great to get your feet into the industry, but get out as quick as possible. you will always get paid even if you are not working.

    Cons

can not be place on projects. even when you get a project it takes them months to begin working on something. I moved multiple times for new clients and never actually worked on anything. then once I was set i got laid off.

    Advice to Management

    Pros

Onsite Opportunity, other than that nothing else

    Cons

    You can see the localism
    The salaries are worst
    Work culture is worst
    Whole culture is worst
You need to slurp the managers to get hike, they are not based on your work ethic
Finally when you move out they will ask to pay 5Lacs if you resign or else they wont give you the Experience letters

    Advice to Management

Don't do all these backward stuff, You need to gain your employees by trust and satisfaction not by squeezing them for money.

I worked at Syntel (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great 'looking' campuses (Means nothing for the employees, means woow for the customer)

Top class clients (Means good onsite opportunity and brand value)

    Cons

    - Felt like lower level employees are treated disgustingly different in a bad way.
    - Every process is a headache. Sometimes approvals go all the way to the Senior VP for your minor taxi re-imbursment.
    - A tiny 1000sq ft library for 7000+ employees in Pune
    - If you are good at any automation technology and good at politics this might be a good place for you or else good luck
    - The company is confused where it is heading, the CEO resigned nobody knows for what reason, feels like decisions are dictated by just one person and you know who
    - The employee crowd is definitely insular (Non-Cosmo). Office locations are Gurgaon(majority north Indians), Chennai(majority south Indians), Pune/Mumbai(majority Maharashtrians). If you are among minority in these locations, its very hard to gel and work as team.

    Advice to Management

Human resource do not communicate well to with employees. Yes, we employees like being pampered with smooth processes and bigger libraries
Hire mixed crowd at mixed locations to encourage mixed culture

I have been working at Syntel (More than a year)

    Pros

There is nothing good about this company. Don't ever join them.

    Cons

Syntel does not pay attention to the issues raised by the employees.
If you are on bench, your chances of getting a project depends on how good your relations are with Senior people in the company.
People who are good at buttering people(managers & above) do excel in this company.
HR managers are rude, unprofessional (you get to see this side after once you are on-boarded)
They don't pay final settlement unless several reminders are sent to them.
Their reimbursement policy is horrible, it requires 7-8 approvals and God forbid, if any approver rejects due to his lack of knowledge, you need to re-do the entire process again.

    Advice to Management

Hire educated, civilized, polite and professionals at all level especially senior management and HR, PDAC

I worked at Syntel full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The paid training for an entry level opportunity.

    Cons

Beware the testing. Tests are filled with typos and poor grammar usage. They can go several directions with the correctness of your answers and never let you review it after being graded. No way to tell what needs work and what doesnt. If they like you, they will pass you. If not, good luck navigating the tests to move to the next step. And beware to those who get relocated from across the country. It happened to one. She has two kids and no connections in san diego, ca. She moved from Maine.
