    Pros

Salary may seem little better compared to similar IT consulting firms like TCS, Wipro and Infy but similarity stops there as medical benefits, 401 K and ESOPs are NONE. Medical coverage starts when you have spent $5000 from your pocket.

    Cons

    - No Employee stock option
    - Little or no salary raise
    - No career growth
    - Medical benefits worst in the industry
    - No contribution to your 401 K
    - High attrition rate at offshore

    Advice to Management

You can never be a Billion dollar company by low employee morale. Learn the concept of profit sharing with employees from Infy.

    Pros

My direct boss was great to work for but he left due to senior management's people philosophies, I am still in touch with him he basically said I can not let you execute the sales strategy, you will fail we have to think differently

    Cons

Can not trust senior management, cut throat culture, not organized, their channel partner model was take as many leads but do not give back

Difficult to find information, new hire orientation is minimal, consultants are not treated as people ,more as a commodity. the sales people actually compete against each other.

Takes adavantage of the Indian consultants and delays the process of getting their green cards

    Advice to Management

Value your people, they are your greatest assets

    Pros

If you are starting your career.
Learn new tool and technologies and get paid.
Hard working ppl in proj delevary side technically shound team.

    Cons

    Worst management ever.
Last week americna express and syntel relationship manager came to houston location and called us all Monkeys and Donkeys, Also he openely admitted that the hardest working ppl wil be screwed in annual reviews twice or thrice and if you still stick with company then you will get a raise. Well this guy is companys motivational SPEAKER !!! God save'em ,Well that did it and I put my resignation the same day.

    Advice to Management

Please have managers review by the teams they are maanging -there is brutal abuse of power by intimidation and threats with female employees pls take action .
Please respect all of your employees not just "Managers"
Please dont import that 'JI SAAB' Mentality form India here to west
Manager should manage the Projects/Programs not Boss around showing his power.
Please put qualified ppl in manager level not because they are from india and you are good friend of him.
Dont always ask employees to do everythign for you - give something in return to them .

    Pros

Works in fits and starts. Suddenly focussed on ERP. Hence it worked for a while.

    Cons

    Huge attrition.
People use it as a breath-catcher in professional life.
    Senior management non-existent.
    Vision/Investment - unheard of.

    Advice to Management

Invest, invest and invest. Sitting on a pile of cash and still counting its moolah at the cost of people.

    Pros

Syntel's sole purpose is to outsource contract IT employees. They gave a good opportunity to work on contract with American Express. Enjoyed the Amex team and all tasks I was assigned to. Reasonable salary, although not really competitive.

    Cons

One of the worst HR departments I've ever seen, if not the worst. Horribly incompetent with a lack of any real communication. They failed to deliver first paycheck until 38 days out, and did not handle relocation reimbursement with any measure of promptness. Promised bonuses are not delivered according to schedule. It appears company is slow to payout on all deliverables, as at one point when I was at their office, a utility company was sent to demand payment or shut off electric service that day.

When my project was cut, I was put on the bench and given several weeks of pay while Syntel supposedly looked for a new project. They then let me go without any measure of professionalism or tact, despite the fact that my former contributions to their projects was always exemplary and ahead of schedule.

I feel fortunate that I took the opportunity to look for a new job instead of waiting for them to figure out which end is up. Shortly after they cut my contract and I was grateful I had already started interviewing for any other position and not to be dealing with this mediocre (at best) company.

    Advice to Management

I honestly don't know where to begin. I think the leadership at Syntel could use a major influx of new talent and a new perspective.

    Pros

Great place to start your career. quick onsite opportunities for almost every one.

    Cons

Company makes it difficult for experienced people to work here for the long term. They don't value their employees.

    Advice to Management

Should learn how to retain their employees- at least the smart ones. They don't seem to be concerned about many good people leaving the Company.
