I have been working at Syntel full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Good pay. Opportunity to travel.

    Cons

Antiquated gender- and hierarchy-based culture. Poor interview process - designed to get seats filled quickly, but not with the right person just the first OK person. Non-existent communication. Double standards abound. 24 hour working is common (e.g., meeting request for 11pm). No training or personal development - HR will say they're looking in to it, but will never follow up. Lip service performance management process - prewritten 'goals'. Employees are encouraged to focus on looking good rather than on doing a good job.

    Advice to Management

Support and engage your employees. I've been with Syntel several months and have yet to even meet my manager... I've asked for information on client-specific training and have received no reply. Etc...

    Encourage employee accountability.

Communicate openly - treat employees as professionals.

I worked at Syntel full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Personal growth - negative
perks - worst than a begger
    company values - worthless values

    Cons

This company asked me to pay for 69 extra days of leave mentioning I have utilized more than 65 days which was mine leave, while in my latest three paystubs, the leave was showing 120 days. How they have calculated they only knows. A third graded Indian consultancy firm claiming they are a reputed US company.
Cheapest of all policies are been kept, not to pay the employees.

    Advice to Management

Bharat Desai, should see the policies for the employees and for the company. Since he is checking the revenue, which is nothing but a profit cut from the employees benefits and reimbursements.

    I worked at Syntel full-time

    Pros

good salary. Everything is good until you are on a project.Insurance plan for US hires is good for bachelors..not for family

    Cons

Less projects.Once you are out of project..they will force you to join any project even not matching with your profile. They will simply terminate you if you spend more than two weeks on bench.H1B will be screwed up and you have to go back to India. No concept of employing US hires to india.HR just lie at time of recruitment. They never want to co-operate with you to get a new project or at least hold your H1B until you find a new job.

    Advice to Management

Terminating in US can ruin someone's whole US career. Please be respectful to the employees who leave big companies in USA and join you.Your HRs simply lie at time of recruitment

    Pros

You will get your salary delayed by 10 days but you will get it.

    Cons

US hires are treated bad by all staff as they earn more money. Very bad health insurance. Too much politics, people go to an extent to sabotaging projects to prove they are valuable.

    Advice to Management

Value the resources who deliver, try to reduce politics. Try to eliminate Syntel Inc and LTD differentiation of employees. Inc Employees are treated as second class citizen.

I worked at Syntel full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

You will have life time experience of bad management.
If you are lucky you will get some good people who is surviving here.

    Cons

Modern day slavery. Engagement Managers who is working in in Syntel since more than 5-10 years are pathetic.
If you are on H1B then you may end up US career with Syntel.
They will force you to relocate frequently, even you are with family.
However this company is CMMI 5, but there is no process. You should have personal relationship with higher management and HR for anything.
I will not recommend any company to continue Syntel as vendor because final impact will be on client.

    Advice to Management

throw out all incapable engagement managers and hire some good manager. But before do so change your HRs sitting on top level who even don`t know how to deal with employees. If you will continue to play with developer and leads company will loose current projects even though sales team will get new one and business will do down.

I worked at Syntel full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The likelihood of finding a project, if you are OK to work for ANY project, is very high.

    Cons

    1. Highly corrupt leadership; most decisions pertaining to Syntel USA and made in India.
    2. Getting a promotion is hard unless you brown-nose your bosses.
They have a weird policy of giving 1/2 salary for a full-time employee if the spouse is already employed with them.
