I have been working at Syracuse University full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Wide variety of research, great colleagues, supportive faculty & staff & administrators, great area, discounted insurance plans (not applicable to those on fellowships)

    Cons

As a TA, you do not have a say in which courses you are assigned to teach. You will take a lot more time to grade than administrators and faculty predict. Faculty sometimes slack on their duties, leaving you looking unprepared to the students.

    Advice to Management

Make MS program requirements clearer and in a separate document from the PhD requirements.

I have been working at Syracuse University part-time

    Pros

The school has many opportunities for student employment, and if you really seek all of them out, you can find a great one. Mant of the jobs have decent/average pay, but if you're really passionate, you can find great jobs as well.

    Cons

A feeling I got from some of the other workers is that they're not quite interested or devoted to their jobs.

I have been working at Syracuse University (More than 10 years)

    Pros

A place to shine. I loved working there for 14 years and will miss them so much!

    Cons

As a PWI, I had full benefits. 3/2 split for teaching load. Work life balance was superb; salary -- embarrassing. Colleges balance their books with adjuncts. It's great pocket money, but to pay the bills? Not possible for a single person. My salary was $25,000 to teach 5 classes each year. I typically taught 7, which is a full load. That got me up to $35-$40K.

    Advice to Management

Keep loving the kids. Increase salaries for adjuncts. Those figures are embarrassing, but somehow, we still loved our jobs.

Plan things out with them prior

I have been working at Syracuse University part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Good place to learn and analyze relevant data in academic use, and doing research in professional methods and strategies on presenting data report

    Cons

Limitation on doing too many start-up kinds research. Most of professors usually focus on recently popular topic but not previous data analysis

    Advice to Management

The data analysis teams are not well organized and performed because of professors' busy and over-covered time schedules

    Pros

Great employee benefits generally at SU.

    Cons

No room for career growth and no action when prompted (specifically in the Whitman School of Management at Syracuse University)

    Advice to Management

Value the talent with every department and compensate them when changes are made.
