I worked at Syracuse University full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Wonderful culture and environment. Great benefits including tuition waiver.

    Cons

The only downside it the location. They have long, brutal winters in Central New York.

    Advice to Management

My management was fantastic. They don't need my advice. If I didn't need to return to Georgia I would have retired from SU.

I have been working at Syracuse University part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Helpful professors, great campus and research greatly supported. I always enjoy doing my research at this place. Probably it was because of my helpful professor.

    Cons

There arent any real huge cons about this place except they dont confirm the job until the semester starts and this leaves the students in a tensed state regarding his/her employment. Probably all other colleges are like this too. I'm not sure.

    Advice to Management

Please be more helpful and understanding towards international students. We try our very best to fit in American culture. If you guys are helpful while we transition it'll make the process much smoother for us.

I have been working at Syracuse University (Less than a year)

    Pros

*working in a culturally diverse environment
    *improving customer satisfaction
    *free food before/after your shift

    Cons

specific station workload not divided equally so you end up doing a lot of work which would tire you out for rest of the day.

    Advice to Management

    Need online add/drop shifts system

I worked at Syracuse University part-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

I was a graduate assistant for four different departments while getting three graduate degrees. Pros are the great health benefit and access to all the standard facilities that most of the companies don't have (gym, pool, etc).

    Cons

    - It is a fairly large university and your work environment largely depends on where you work. If your boss sucks, your work will suck. (But that is not really about this this university.)
    - The winter here is brutal.
    - Parking is limited.

    Advice to Management

The current Chancellor created a large disturbance when he came in. I heard a good amount of negative and not so negative stories about his management. I am not in a position make a judgment but I think it was clear that there was a lot of miscommunication between the management and the student and employee bodies. I am not familiar with the current situation.
