I worked at Sysco full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Training is extensive and very good, which sets you up to succeed. Very broad product line, you can pretty much get anything for your customer that they need. Company is known in the restaurant/hotel business. Lots of support for sales staff and continued education on new and existing products.

    Cons

You work a LOT. This job is most ideal for a single person who wants to hustle hard and make money. Ideally, you are positioned as your clients' go-to person, and in the restaurant business that means you are fielding a lot of issues, even those that are not your fault. So if a chef has a problem at midnight on a Saturday, you take the call and solve the problem. Once I had kids this lifestyle was not the one for me.

I have been working at Sysco full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Fast-paced high activity environment. Constantly solving problems and helping customers with their businesses. The company culture is sales oriented and aggressive.

    Cons

Sysco does not put the customer first (internal or external). Commision structure is complicated and the ability to increase commission earnings is extremely limited.

I have been working at Sysco full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Good starting pay. Good benefits. Flexible as long as you are doing your job (up in sales)

    Cons

Micro managed if you are down in sales. Admin seems to favor subtle threatening undertones rather than encouraging positive reinforcement. Lot of touchy people at my location... work lif balance sucks for fist two years bc you are training even if you have a territory. After that time, life gets better...
