Solid place to cut your Sales teeth
Sep 3, 2015 - Senior Account Executive (Sales) in San Francisco, CARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
[From a Sales perspective...] 1. Great opportunity to learn all aspects of Sales, from customer identification, needs analysis, negotiation/closing, and account management. 2. Company treats top performers extremely well; these folks are often allowed to climb company ladder quickly, and are given much flexibility to do the job as they see fit (assuming they continue to hit and exceed quota). 3. A lot of good, smart people both in field sales and in Sales management. Very supportive team, and a fun group.
Cons
[From a Sales perspective...] 1. I must have had a dozen different sales plans in ten years with the company (five years with Sysomos, and five previously with their parent company, Marketwired). The company was continually changing and modifying the plan, which was frustrating at times as a commissioned-based rep. 2. Poor communication from the top on down; I often felt out of the loop as to what the company was thinking strategically, in addition to what was coming down the product pipeline. 3. Company did a less than stellar job of recognizing and rewarding top performers. Yes, total comp was fair, but it would have been nice to receive added bonuses or other rewards based on continual success year after year. This did not exist. 4. Unclear, undefined career path. Yes, the company did approach me at times with opportunities for other positions within the org. But this was a very unstructured process.

Pros
Excellent culture, smart engaging coworkers. Really enjoyed working in the space of social media monitoring.
Cons
Unusual moves among upper management led to mass layoffs...my compulsive need to be kind prevents me from sharing more. It just was not a good situation for me.

Changing times brings big shift to culture
Oct 24, 2016 - CPO in Raleigh, NCRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Previous leadership was not customer focused and it showed in the lack of innovation. The new CEO has given overall actions for the company to pivoting the teams to think market driven and towards a unified platform. The amount of rich data and overall functionality just need to be properly connected and Sysomos has a game changing software that WILL disrupt the marketplace. The energy is palpable and it's exciting times even with huge changes in the team and vision.
Cons
Due the acquisition of three companies in 2015, systems and process are still in flux. However the clear responsibility delegated down to each executive has this being addressed for the future. If you can't handle a "start up" mentality you won't thrive here.

A great place to work
Nov 23, 2016 - Software Engineer in Raleigh, NCRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
The environment here is fantastic. Not only do we get to work with some very cool technologies, but it's also a fun place to work with some great people..Integrating with the top social media platforms and keeping up with them as they change is challenging and a very rewarding experience as it all comes together.
Cons
Recent growth has put a few restrictions on costs, but that's part of any business as it matures. The face paced work environment and self directed work isn't for everybody, but if you're good at what you do, it's very rewarding.

New leadership team is focused and driven to succeed. They care about employee's career. I feel respected and enjoy my colleagues and management. Work is challenging but fun.
Cons
The last year was frustrating under previous leadership and it has put our company behind. Everyone is working hard but sometimes it is tough to always be pushing hard to catch up.

Pros
Great team of people to work with and can honestly say I learn something new everyday. Always get the feeling that I am supported in trying to advance my career and become the best I possibly can. Very relaxed environment with the occasional issues that come up any where you work.
Cons
Things can get stressful and issues become time sensitive meaning days that can go beyond the average 8-5 but this is not an everyday occurrence. Deadlines are deadlines, this happens anywhere.

Difficult to leave such a great place to work!
Dec 5, 2016 - Executive Assistant to Chief Executive Officer in Raleigh, NCRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Opportunities for challenge and growth in a fast paced environment. Efforts appreciated and applauded. Great team of smart, dedicated co-workers and leadership. A true Open Door culture - you can ask anyone - anything - anytime. Leaving was a very difficult decision. However, an opportunity arose that I had to accept.
Cons
Challenges and opportunities also means some long hours and can feel like you're on your own. That can be disconcerting.

Too much change in the last year has created some concern on leader stability, trust and long term direction.

An excellent place to be if learning and building apps excites you
Nov 28, 2016 - Anonymous Employee in Raleigh, NCRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
If you want to learn and continuously grow your skills, this is the place to be. Social media moves fast, and so does Sysomos. We stay up to date with the latest technology stacks, allowing us to build some really cool apps. It's a fast-paced environment. Your code will go out into production and be used by clients. Even though the company has grown and matured over the years, it still has the energy of a startup. People are friendly and it's obvious leadership really cares about employees. People listen to your ideas and you have an actual voice here. All managers I've worked with have open-door policies and seem willing to work with you when something comes up. Also, the perks are pretty great: competitive salaries, bonus opportunities, volunteer days, concert tickets in the company box, Hurricanes tickets, gym membership, full kitchens, training opportunities, and some pretty great company outings and parties.
Cons
Moving fast can be a double-edged sword. Be prepared to put in the work. Training materials can't always keep up with the pace. This isn't really a place that you can just show up and coast. If learning new technologies and building apps doesn't excite you, and you're just looking for some job, you might want to look elsewhere.
