I worked at Systemax as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great chance to build new skills with very worthwhile assignments. Assignments given to interns were incredibly similar to those full-time employees were working on. Great culture, great people, great hours.

    Cons

    Too much downtime at times

I worked at Systemax full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Had a great boss who was caring and generous (in software development dept.), the people at worker level are awesome here, good work environment, good career opportunities if you work hard.

    Cons

Somewhat limited on raises (but not non-existent), have to work long hours (10 including lunch). The 'facilities' could use an upgrade.

    Advice to Management

Be a little more generous with employees and the return on investment will be great. (Senior management.) No advice needed for line-level management. They we all very professional and great to work with.

I have been working at Systemax full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The company has a lot of opportunities where a person can make positive change and is not afraid to ask questions. The company is also very supportive of career development and encourages movement within the company as long as you prove yourself worthy of it.

    Cons

This it not a place for a person who is looking for a clear path or a routine when it comes to work. There generally aren't a lot of set protocols and procedures in place. You will have to be willing to pick up knowledge on the fly as you work day to day. You have to be proactive and know where to get the knowledge you need to get your job done.

    Advice to Management

Encourage more interaction between different departments and business units so that we learn best practices. Continue to develop work procedures to minimize the learning curve for new employees.

I have been working at Systemax full-time

    Pros

Nice environment, friendly colleagues, good office location.
From a basic chaos, SBS is strating to show structure. Directions and Values are taking shape, management is concentrating more on the employees needs, new trainings are available, a bonus system is about to be applied, etc.

    Cons

Still room for implrovement in the communication with In-Country and regarding Senior Management visibility

    Advice to Management

Keep going in the current direction and the results will speak for themselves

I have been working at Systemax full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Personal freedom on how my projects are managed and what technologies are used.

    Cons

The management seems tub struggling with other companies in the group, and has a hide-bound view on some aspects of marketing today.

    Advice to Management

    Listen to your employees.

I worked at Systemax full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good location, nice colleagues, reasonable benefits and wages. Opportunities to grow or change roles within the company.
Invest in team buildings, and company wide initiatives to drive their employees.

    Cons

Often too focused on KPI's instead of being focused on resolving issues and actually helping customers and reaching solutions. High turnover of people, as is often the case in a shared service center.

    Advice to Management

Advice and inform your employees on any changes, and most of all, listen to your employees. They do know what's going on in their markets as they're spending 8 hours per day working for it.
