I have been working at Systems Evolution full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

    - Great clients with projects that are complex, challenging, enterprise, and impactful. - We’re “sticky” at clients, do a great job, delivery with integrity keeps us at a client longer. - Employee ownership means we are all accountable, driving the business forward, helping one another. - Leadership that cares about the employees, strives to help us succeed. - Compensation is competitive, stock ownership is lucrative.

    Cons

I don’t really have any cons. Our leadership addresses things before they become a ‘con’.

I worked at Systems Evolution full-time for more than a year

    Pros

I left SEI several months ago for an opportunity that I simply couldn’t turn down. This is an amazing firm, with amazing people. One of the best career experiences I have had. *Team cohesion and collaboration- Colleagues are always willing to help each other out. No back stabbing. Everyone is working together to make the firm better, and to ensure the client experience is first class. Employees are treated with respect,...

    Cons

No real cons for SEI. I had a very positive experience! Coming out of industry to consulting was difficult for me a time first, but there were lots of coworkers always willing to coach and mentor. Perhaps a formal training program/ curriculum for folks that are new to consulting could help with initial transition.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what your doing! Maintain a rigorous hiring process, and always maintain the amazing company culture that you have created! Consider a 401K match as you continue to grow

I have been working at Systems Evolution full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

I found that being a part of SEI is exactly as described during the interview process. It is a very flat organization with very low overhead. Unlike other firms where I have worked there is no class distinctions between those that are owners (partners) and those that aren't. The simple fact is any senior or principal can acquire shares in the LLC and many have. A key component of the model is cooperation rather than competition....

    Cons

Although SEI is substantially larger than it was when I started, it is still a growing organization that is still establishing itself in each of its markets. The folks that are the most comfortable at SEI are those that are confident in their consulting skills, prefer cooperation over competition, and want to be able to help shape the organization.

    Advice to Management

At SEI there is no need to provide blind feedback to management. If I have an idea that I think will help, then I tell them directly.

I have been working at Systems Evolution full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Who’s up for a long review on what it’s really like to be part of SEI? You are? Great! Let’s dive in. I’ve been part of SEI for over five years and I’m as sure today as I was on the day I joined that this is where I want to spend the rest of my career. And that’s saying something given that I easily have another 20-25 years ahead of me work-wise. How many people feel that way about companies nowadays? Rarely...

    Cons

The great thing about SEI is that if you're experiencing a con, well, you're part owner of the firm - you're empowered to fix it.

    Advice to Management

Keep true to the model, it's worked since 1992 for a reason.

I worked at Systems Evolution full-time for less than a year

    Pros

All the staff is very hard working and very dedicated to the company. There are some very talented individuals with a wide range of backgrounds and deep experience.

    Cons

Brand Recognition is Poor - Very few people have ever heard of SEI even though other similar sized, similar style firms in the area are well known. Work is often Staff Augmentation - A surprising number of consultants are in the same role/assignment for 5+ years, thus basically functioning as staff augmentation. About a third of the contracts are temp-staff roles, not advice/ expertise/ consulting. Diversity -...

    Advice to Management

The culture needs to 'grow up' in line with the growth of the company. You have aspirations to grow, but that will require a more professional internal culture.

    Disapproves of CEO

I worked at Systems Evolution full-time

    Pros

Nice consultants, decent set of clients Pretty good pay for the work once you get promoted Very social

    Cons

Not a career... no where to go. With only one Managing Director per office there just isn't an opportunity, period. 90% of the work is staff augmentation not strategic project management. They talk about employee ownership which is great, but the upside is so small for newer folks is financially meaningless Haven't seen the leadership lead. That includes the CEO and local leadership

    Advice to Management

What's the value proposition for new hires or established Principles without chunks of equity?

I worked at Systems Evolution full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Every consultant has access to leadership, is supported by the entire company (anyone can reach out for help and have it, usually within the hour), is treated equally with a very compensation structure, has a seat at the decision table on day 1, and has the opportunity to share one's unique talents and passions to grow the business. The culture is one of family, the interview process is slow to allow relationships...

    Cons

I can't call the expectation to perform at client as well as support growing the organization to everyone's benefit a con, but it could be a consideration.
