I have been working at Systems Evolution full-time

      Pros

It’s only been a few months since I joined SEI, but it has been a great experience so far. SEI is a flat organization where employees are treated like family, are all equally accountable and are empowered to be owners. This when combined with a warm, welcoming and fun culture makes SEI a delight and motivates you to put your best foot forward always. SEIers are talented, humble and approachable. Though spread across...

      Cons

The interview process may seem long (and SEI is working on bringing in efficiencies here). Having said that, the process is structured to give candidates an equal opportunity to interview SEI as well. From my experience, I got a good sense of the people I’ll be working with, which made my transition into SEI quite seamless.

      Advice to Management

SEI’s strategic anchors have served it well and should therefore be protected

I have been working at Systems Evolution full-time

      Pros

great work colleagues that support each other's success vs. needing to play politics to get promoted or 'be seen'...i.e... flat organizational hierarchy with no need to jockey as not a position based organization open and transparent information upwards/downwards/across the organization great equity program with both grant awards and stock purchase opportunities in which shares pay out dividends quarterly

      Cons

      no matching on 401k program

      Advice to Management

Keep doing what's right but don't be afraid to question what got us here and have the courage to make changes and innovate

I have been working at Systems Evolution full-time for less than a year

      Pros

Employee owned. Not “up or out”. Not cutthroat. Not political. Flat structure -no practitioner is more than 2 removed from the CEO. CEO is happy to conduct 1:1 meetings when visiting offices with whomever requests one. Expectations are high. A truly collaborative team, even across offices.

      Cons

Smaller firm so not well known across industries.

      Advice to Management

Continue to listen to the people engaging where the rubber meets the road and fostering this amazing culture!

I have been working at Systems Evolution full-time for more than 5 years

      Pros

The level of collaboration between consultants and management, not just for delivering client service but also for how we should run and build our own business, is amazing. Employees truly are empowered to take ownership of what they care about.

      Cons

You need to make a commitment to the company not just your current client. You need to find a place to plug in and add value to SEI so that we continue grow and improve.

      Advice to Management

I love the focus on improving our competitive advantages and how these conversations have been happening in the open across locations at all levels. Keep it up.

I have been working at Systems Evolution full-time

      Pros

Don't take my word for it - we're always rated as one of the top places to work in Consulting Magazine, City Business Journals and other local publications, and by our consultants! If you want a true sense of purpose...to know that what you do every day moves the needle for the business, this is the place for you! You'll work among a team of extremely high performing, focused, and committed peers; we have each others'...

      Cons

I struggle with this one - given the flat org structure, we talk about anything that bothers us or isn't going well openly, and work collaboratively to fix it. I suppose not everyone is comfortable in an environment where that's the case, but I wouldn't have it any other way!

      Advice to Management

Stay the course, you have a great thing going!

I have been working at Systems Evolution full-time

      Pros

Everything at SEI has been as it appeared during the interview process. I joined for the opportunity to learn and be a part of running a business, but also continue in the delivery role for clients that I so enjoy. SEI is a completely autonomous, yet collaborative culture. You're empowered and encouraged to make the best of your time here. From day 1, you are an equal member of the team, where your opinions are valued...

      Cons

Not a "Con," but a call out: This is an environment that serves self-starters well. If you want to sit back, be told what to do, and accrue a paycheck, this is not the environment for you. Expect to be an active participant of the local business, and collaborate with your peers in New York and around the country.

      Advice to Management

Keep doing what you're doing. The transparency and open book policy garners respect and trust from all of us.

I have been working at Systems Evolution full-time for more than 3 years

      Pros

I have been with SEI for 3 years and it is still one of the best decisions I have ever made. Our clients are industry leaders, our engagements are interesting, the work is challenging and the people are incredible. SEI empowers consultants to take ownership in the company. I have been working at Systems Evolution full-time for less than a year

      Pros

I love the local work model and the opportunity for ownership and decision making. The energy and collaboration between SEI colleagues is very motivating. Places I've worked before have been much more competitive as people were trying to make a good impression on leadership and move up or jockeying for position, here we are all pulling together as a team. It's an ideal work situation being able to do the consulting work...

      Cons

With a small (but growing!) local office team working 100% onsite at different clients, it requires effort to stay engaged and connected with those on other clients (but with leadership so committed to providing these opportunities, consultants just have to take advantage of them)

      Advice to Management

Continued focus on growing both the client and consultant base to expand opportunities for collaboration and growth in different industries.
