I have been working at TÜV SÜD (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Been here 5 years. Local operations manager is one of the best in the business. Plenty of opportunity for advancement and excellent corporate support.

    Cons

If you're a team player, you'd be hard pressed to draw a negative from this company.

    Advice to Management

Thanks for the last 5 years!

    Pros

Great people, relaxed atmosphere (depending on department), good work / life balance.

    Cons

Little to no chance for career advancement. Very small pay increases every year, 2% (on average) doesn't even keep up with escalating health care costs. Always have to be worried about the company financials or people start worrying about their jobs. Benefits suck.

    Advice to Management

Open your damn eyes, you need to invest money to make money. Give your good people higher raises for their performance. Don't be so quick to fire people to "save" money in a downturn. Also, my approval/disapproval for CEO is indicative of Mr. Nicol, not Mr. Stepken.

I have been working at TÜV SÜD full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

You get to meet a lot of new people. The company is always hiring or transferring people around the country and some times the world.

    Cons

You will meet a lot of new people since the people are constantly leaving or getting terminated. Granted there are some people who have been with the company for 25+ years, they are few and far between.

    Advice to Management

Invest in your employees and make them feel like they are worth something for than just a warm body in a chair.

I have been working at TÜV SÜD full-time

    Pros

Flexible work schedule. Not micro-managed. Able to create your own work.

    Cons

German's in the company tend to be rude, inexperienced, naïve, don't listen to others opinions, and try to use strong arm tactics.

    Advice to Management

Foster a more collegial work environment.

I have been working at TÜV SÜD full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

When I expressed dissatisfaction with how things were run, they started an improvement team of my peers to work on improvements.
The leadership actually does the same job (just less of it) so they know how it really is.

    Cons

Our German HQ does not do enough to improve processes such as reducing the duplication in the paperwork.

    Advice to Management

Take more advantage of the skills and experience of your personnel more than you do. Yes, you are starting to do that and I applaud that. Please do more.
