I worked at T.K. Maxx as a contractor

    Pros

Other team members; higher living wage than other companies

    Cons

Store layout only allowed for one row of tills, so holiday time was massively busy

I have been working at T.K. Maxx part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

-Great pay compared to other retail stores
    -Regular store outings
-Open to ideas to fundraising for charity
-Staff gift cards for good work
    -Flexibility
    -Approachable Management

    Cons

-Scheduling/weekly rota makes it hard to plan in advance
-Limit to hours because of too many employees
    -No wifi

    Advice to Management

A two-week rota would be great. Allocating more staff to certain areas of the store which are busy would make maintenance better rather than trying to cut costs and having one person do so much, meanwhile the area is never fully maintained.

I have been working at T.K. Maxx full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

staff are like family. you never feel left out

    Cons

    they sometimes overwork you

    Advice to Management

pay better attention to your staff. stop spreading one person so thin that they feel like they're about to break. Just because someone gets a department done fast, or you feel like they'll be able to handle it doesnt mean you should reduce their hours. Increase the contracted hours of the staff that have been working in tkmaxx for over a certain period of time, instead of keeping us on the same contract for over two years and then giving new staff a higher contract than us from the beginning.

I have been working at T.K. Maxx part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

All sales associates are friendly and welcoming when you start. Everybody acts as equal and will pull together to help get your department finished if you are falling behind. The pay is good for the work being done.

    Cons

Some of managements attitudes towards sales associates should be addressed. Very authoritative and power hungry at times. Rota's are only put up one week in advance so difficult to plan events with family/friends. Jobs can become monotonous and boring.

    Advice to Management

Ensure all management are on the same page with regards to how to treat staff. Most of management are lovely, just a small percentage let the whole team down.

    Pros

Meet some great people who are generally your age and have a laugh each shift

    Cons

You will work 40-70 hours a week yet start on a 4 hour contract. Through working these crazy offers I was eventually offered a 16 hour contract

    Advice to Management

People who consistently do more than they are contrated should be looked after more and offered larger contracts to protect them from the burnout!
