    Pros

    T. Rowe Price values intellectual integrity and teamwork, and is a stable company to work for. The management seems to be competent and training is known to be world class. The Owinings Mills campus is very beautiful with a nice cafeteria. Benefits are great.

    Cons

The salary is low. Benefits are generous but they are definitely not a substitute for low salary. For the reputation the company has, it doesn't always hire jobs seekers with better credentials. Most hires seem to be through referrals.

    Advice to Management

Be more flexible with part-time graduate students attending classes in the evening.

    Pros

Name recognition for your resume. Good benefits

    Cons

No career advancement opportunities in Tampa, you have to move to Baltimore. Senior leaders are very adept, but middle management is terrible. Most of the middle managers were promoted through the ranks because of their organizational politics saavy. They are completely ignorant to the business and how it works. All they care about is their next promotion. I guess I cannot complain too much because it is probably like that at any call center type company.

    Advice to Management

    Use your brains more.

    Pros

Great training. If you are new to the industry it is a great place to learn and get your licensing.

    Cons

Salary and career advancement are the biggest cons. The benefits are geared toward older employees yet most of the company is made up of recent college grads. No effort seems to be given to retaining talent with the firm.

    Advice to Management

Put forth a greater effort to retain the talent that you spend so much time and money to train.

    Pros

    T. Rowe Price is a great place to work if you can fit in with the corporate culture. The benefit package is great.

    Cons

Overbearing management... Lots of micromanaging, depending on the department. Strict company policy on requested time off. Low pay according to industry standards

    Advice to Management

    Back off!

    Pros

They have great benefits. Its an easy job for the most part.

    Cons

Pay is horrible. If you are going to work there then just act stupid, it will get you out of the entry level positions faster. If you are good at your job they are going to be more inclined to keep you there. Also they are not about free thinkers here. Just be mold for them to shape so if you have to be someone you are completely not then thats what you will have to do in order to get upward movement. I loved it there at first becasue they tell you about all of the oppertunity in the company but its not really that easy.

    Advice to Management

Stop treating people like children. You are all generally young and far too happy about being in mid level management so you treat people like its day care.

    Pros

Great place to start a career right out of college. Great resume booster for when you more to your second job.

    Cons

No motivation to do a better job. Salaries are awful, but that said, turnover is high so you cant expect much. Everyone does monkey work and no one other than management is rewarded.

    Advice to Management

The only reason back office management suceeds is because everyone else doing the dirty work. They have no experience in the tasks that that manage

  8. "Salary not in line with others in the industry."

    Pros

    T. Rowe Price offers great benefits to its employees. They also offer a great training program for new hires and provide good career development training.

    Cons

Do not allow for much growth within the firm. They sell the firm by expanding on how they focus on career progression within the firm but did not see much of that while working for them.

    Advice to Management

Allow for employees to move within the firm as advertised. Encourage employees to provide their best service by rewarding innovation.

    Pros

great benefits, profit sharing, nice cafeteria and eating area, gorgeous waterfall running through the middle of "campus", most cubicles have window views no matter where you sit

    Cons

Some of the downsides are its the companies known reputation for low salaries, monotonous dry repetitive job, very clique oriented much like a high school "campus"

    Advice to Management

WIth their two building expansion, they seem to be knowing what they're doing and creating more jobs for the area which is always good for the economy.

"Great Place to work... for some!"

    Pros

Great work environment. They tend to say all the right things. Benefits package is pretty good.

    Cons

But putting theory into practice has proven to be a challenge. Just saying the right things is not enough especially when it takes years to see any movement towards better communications and career advancement opportunites. Additionally, there is a HUGE lack of diversity within leadership and no efforts in that direction. This is also reflected in mid-level promotion opportunities. T. Rowe Price rarely promotes qulaified people of color. The only minority group that has SOME level of representation are women. Perhaps promoting caucasian women is their attempt to be diverse, but it still fails to properly represent all of the qualified candidates that seek employment or promotions.

    Advice to Management

Move beyond your personal comfort levels and open your mind to the world at large. The people you serve are becoming more & more diverse. Therefore, your leadership and your employment practices should also become more diverse. Each area of employment within T. Rowe is dominated by a particular ethnic group. Why? Are those groups only capable of those tasks? This reflects leadership's narrow-mindedness. The diversity you THINK is present is a fallacy. Limiting the available roles of your minority employees is not true diversity. Stop fooling yourselves!
