What’s the best way to have a lack of compensation and incentive conversation in your department? I went above and beyond for years doing extra work, organizations etc and nothing has been reflected in pay. I thought my 5 year was going to finally show something but it did not. I’ve inquired about pay but it’s gotten nowhere.

A very solid, well-run company, but the contact center locations come with some downside.

    Pros

The upper management at T. Rowe Price is phenomenal. Very intelligent and mature leadership, and the corporate culture is top notch. It's a company that anyone would be proud to work for. Salaries are fair, but the benefits are excellent.

    Cons

The contact center locations (Tampa, FL and Colorado Springs, CO) have limited opportunity for career development. While they're much more professional than other contact centers, they still come with the same drawbacks of other contact centers.

    Horrible management at NYC office

    May 23, 2020 - Software Developer
    Recommend
    CEO Approval
    Business Outlook

    Pros

Well run company, good benefits, market rate pay, catered lunch once a week, smart colleagues. Overall, could have been a nice place to work.

    Cons

The NYC office was founded to launch Data Science related projects. If you are not on a Data Science project, your work is of no interest to anyone. The sales pitch of 'this is a startup within a large and established company' is not true. NYC office culture is rigid and oppressive where feedback is penalized. Employee feedback is mandatory, but God forbid you say something you actually think, even if it is for the benefit of the company. The 'wrong kind' of feedback is recorded in your personnel file (along with everything else) and will be used against you. If you are interested in joining a real startup, this isn't one. There is no room to grow. NYC office is small and is intended to stay that way. The parent company is in Maryland. If you want to be noticed and grow your career, NYC office is a dead end. NYC office is led by people who are not technical at all and know nothing about software development, but like to use big words and pontificate about software development methodology. NYC management comes from Bridgewater Associates. They manage up and are rude and horrible to their subordinates. They only care about promoting the NYC office visibility within T Rowe Price and putting on a show for the upper management. They do not understand the work being done and don't care about the people doing it. Stay away!

Salary not in line with others in the industry.

Mar 1, 2010 - Brokerage Representative in Owings Mills, MD

    Business Outlook

    Pros

    T. Rowe Price offers great benefits to its employees. They also offer a great training program for new hires and provide good career development training.

    Cons

Do not allow for much growth within the firm. They sell the firm by expanding on how they focus on career progression within the firm but did not see much of that while working for them.

    Great company overall!

    Jul 20, 2022 - Associate Engagement Manager

    Business Outlook

    Pros

    - Commitment to investors. No matter the team or business unit, there is a commitment to the company's investors and customers, which is great. - Good benefits. T. Rowe has very good benefits and has a lot of partnerships with other organizations for reduced pricing and perks. - People. Employees at T. Rowe are often helpful, honest, and willing to take chances or try new things. I have been at the company for over five years and generally have felt very supported by my co-workers. - Inclusive. T. Rowe is very focused on diversity and inclusion, which allows everyone to bring their whole selves to work.

    Cons

    - Siloed support. Depending on your job role or business unit, support for your career or overall growth may be minimal. In some places, it's important to network and champion allies, especially if you are looking to shift job roles to another part of the business.

    My own 'Slice of Heaven'

Apr 24, 2013 - Administrative Assistant in Baltimore, MD

    Pros

For the last six years, I commuted a total of three hours daily for a former employer. T. Rowe Price has a convenient location which has reduced my commute to a total of one (1) hour daily. My fellow colleagues are friendly and very helpful in a team player sense of style, while the overall department has a relaxed atomosphere. Moreover, the managers are approachable and a pleasure to work with.

    Cons

As a new contracted employee, I have yet to discover any cons at this time. I'm certain, in time, I will have more feedback, however, I'm confident my review of the company will not change much.

    Pros

    T. Rowe Price had a great training program. It's a great starting point for a career in financial services. The company has great benefits, 401k matching and employee stock purchase program.

    Cons

Poor management. Favoritism and bullying practices are common. Not much room for growth. Difficult to transition to other areas of the business.

    Pros

    T. Rowe Price has great benefits. You are not expected to work long hours. Your colleagues are mostly very friendly people.

    Cons

Too slow paced. Too conservative of a culture. New ideas are met with a lot of resistance. Located in Baltimore.
