I worked at TASC full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    - My line management was excellent - there was good, honest communication, and they valued employee contributions.
    - When I was looking to move on to another project after almost three years, my management and the human resources department really worked hard to try to find me viable options.
    - The benefits and compensation were competitive, including providing access to technology training that was timely as well as useful to our customers
    - TASC applied some of the best automation of personnel-oriented processes (e.g., onboarding, reviews, benefits enrollment) I have ever encountered.

    Cons

    - There were not many placement options for very senior technical resources (25+ years)
    - Raises during the last two years at TASC were non-existent, possibly as part of TASC's move to merge with Engility
    - Extra effort with proposals, contract re-competes and similar activities did not appear to receive matching rewards.

    Advice to Management

It's been two years since I left TASC, and with the merger with Engility, I'm not sure how the management of the company has changed. But high performers and those who put extra effort in should be rewarded for their work.

"TASC was an outstanding company, but it remains to be seen what Engility does with it."

I worked at TASC full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

TASC had a 45 year old brand name recognized in the IC and DoD as a provider of high quality staff and solutions. Not sure why leadership felt that being acquired by a 2 year old brand name, Engility, was a good idea, but overhead costs have dropped as a result of the increase in company size. A large number of outstanding leaders have left the company and wages for the average employee (not the senior leadership) have been being driven down by replacing costly talent with cheaper, newer entrants into the job market. This may be what government agencies want.... less experience with lower prices. The approach may allow Engility to be successful. Great for the Investment companies that own it, but not so good for customers (lower quality) or employees (lower wages and benefits).

    Cons

Even before the acquisition by Engility, TASC changed cultures from being a reputable provider of high quality staff and solutions to being part of the beltway herd of LPTA providers. Low Price Technically Acceptable may be what the government wants right now, but you get what you pay for.

    Advice to Management

Find a way to differentiate Engility from the rest of the pack of LPTA providers and return to making Engility a great place to work.
