I worked at TD part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Td bank was an amazing place to work. They matched 401k and you receive hours of vacation with every paycheck. I also received free checking and savings accounts. Room to grow only if you have the right manager.

    Cons

Managers can be bias when deciding who to promote.

I have been working at TD part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great co-workers and a lot of room for advancement. I've witnessed 3 co workers get promoted in less than 5 months. TD also provides legendary customer service experiences and I've learned a lot working here in regards to that.

    Cons

I personally work at a very fast paced environment because my branch gets very busy but that all depends on where you decide to work.

    Advice to Management

I just wish there were more corporate positions available.

I have been working at TD full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Salary is on par with other financial organization.

    Cons

The IT infrastructure department is outdated and is making life harder not only for the developers but also for the business by having a very slow delivery. Where in any companies, ordering a server is a matter of months if not weeks, here you are considered lucky if you get one in a year. The bureaucracy is out of the chart where you have to fill a form for every small thing you use (library, server ports, ...) that needs to be approved by a humongous number of managers.

Because of that, every team has a very limited number of servers that can barely run their applications and cannot support all the tools that might be needed.

I saw several talented employees that are left with no other choice than looking somewhere else to keep their skills up to date and have a decent career growth.

    Advice to Management

Needs a complete IT infrastructure department overhaul.

I have been working at TD full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Overall well run bank, solid financials, relaxed customer friendly and employee friendly culture. They believe in promoting from within.

    Cons

Bank is open 7 days a week which means more likely than not you will be working one or two weekends a month on an alternate basis. Technology mostly is not good. Finally, it all depends which store (branch) you land in. Some stores are poorly managed and have poor morale while others are better managed and have good morale.

    Advice to Management

Weed out the bad managers! Unfortunately, they are usually the ones who are expert brown nosers. Bad management drags down teams and ultimately will hurt profits from loss of customers and high employee turnover.

I worked at TD as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

    Flexible working arrangement.
    Nice people.

    Cons

No marketing support or creative services team. Constantly reinventing the wheel.

    Advice to Management

Spend money to support internal branding and marketing. Recognize the importance of the NY office given the goal to be "Americas most convenient bank". Clean out legacy senior tech leaders who undermine the CTO.

I have been working at TD (More than 3 years)

    Pros

work-life balance is outstanding, low pressure, good compensation packages

    Cons

Lack of accountability, lack of senior mgt technology leadership, heavy process, people act like robots, little focus on execution/agility

    Advice to Management

Empower people, understand current technology landscape, remove barriers and reduce massive process overhead, instill culture of accountability

I worked at TD full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Benefits and community focus environment. They give preferencial employment rights to Canadian citizens moving to the US than local hires. you can only grow professionally in this bank if you are from Canada.

    Cons

Horrible place to work for minorities and building a career. HR benefits are not competitive and overall environment is very hostile.

    Advice to Management

People are not given opportunities to grow their career path. Employees are not given opportunities to move between LOB and there is an internal mafia between candidates who are hired by their personal relationships that their curriculum and experience.

    Pros

None. PTO are weak. Depends on the "store" aka branch you are working in.

    Cons

PTO Customers Co Workers. Regional manager and audit managers have bad attitudes

    Advice to Management

    Better top to bottom management
