I have been working at TD full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Quarterly bonus, 401k, flexible, diverse, caring. Great opportunities to grow, great culture of mentoring and encouraging internal promotion.

    Cons

Work life balance. Internally promoted are paid a lot lesd than external hires, which can be extremely frustrating.

    Advice to Management

    Computer systems could be improved.

    Pros

This company is very focused on creating the best service based business possible. There is a "No Jerk" policy within the company. There is an emphasis on hiring nice people who can be trained on specific skills, but who already have a talent and personality for helping people. It feels good to work for a company like this when so many customers become fans of what we are doing both in the store and the community at large. Positive word of mouth is the best and most effective advertising!
Also, if you work hard and learn fast you will be recognized and can move up within the company as it is still expanding.

    Cons

Having a flexible schedule is extremely important, which means some last minute schedule changes, including early morning and late evening shifts. Not enough compensation at Teller and CSR positions to encourage top performers.

    Advice to Management

Keep emphasizing superior customer service at all costs. Continue to invest in training and development, but offer performance bonuses for top performers in all job descriptions. Keep decision-making local as much as possible.

    Pros

Ample opportunity for advancement here. This place really cares about its employees and wants them to succeed. A very team-oriented environment with a great deal of cooperation between individuals.

    Cons

Can be stressful at times when markets are in flux. Some customers will take out their losses on you, personally, so you need to be prepared.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the good work-giving employes the chance and opportunity to develop fully. TD Waterhouse was a really great place to work when I was there and I hope it remains that way.

    Pros

Fair chance for advancement, respect for employees, competent management, interesting work, good people

    Cons

Like everywhere, some managers are hard to work with. There is always a chance to move either up if you deserve a promotion or laterally. You are not married to your manager. I had a good experience with TD, some did not.

    Advice to Management

They are already doing everything by the book.

    Pros

Great opportunity for upward mobility. A great place to get started and even continue a career in finances or banking. Great working environment. Very easy going management but authoritative when necessary, fair.

    Cons

Outside hires tend to make more than those who are promoted through the company. Outside hires placed into management or supervisor positions often makes it difficult to function.

    Advice to Management

Do not hire outside the company unless that person shows a great deal of promise. Do not hire someone at a hire rate than someone who got promoted through the company as they are not nearly as qualified as the current employee.

    Pros

    Great Benefits
Ability to move up within the company
All the support you could want within the company

    Cons

Co-workers that complain a lot and don't/can't buy into the TD way
The pay could be a little better

    Advice to Management

We are asked to do a lot at TD Bank. A lot more so than other banks do. We work hard to make our customers happy. This includes going above and beyond to fix problems and the hours that we are open. A little better pay would nice.
