I worked at TD (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Flexibly scheduling. No micro management. Like my co- workers. Treated like family. My manager genuinely cared about me and my employees. She was great with HR matters.

    Cons

Have to work every other Saturday and late on Thursday and Fridays. Area manager was a bit crazy and loud. Like to pray at meetings. Voiced her political opinion too often.

    Advice to Management

Teach your area managers to keep it more business professional. Too much with the religious and political stuff. If you don't pray with her your an outcast!

I worked at TD full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

TD Bank was good to me as a contractor.

    Cons

As soon as I became a company employee (as opposed to a contractor) they demanded 70-80 hour weeks. The applications are spaghetti code, and they never invest in anything except for band aids. My manager demanded that I work nights and weekends, and even during my family events. They make you sign all kinds of conditions for employment that other companies don't so they can use it later to force you into 80 hour weeks.

    Advice to Management

Be honest during the interview process.

    Pros

    Empowering Environment
    Career Growth
    Customer Service Driven
    Top Tier Training Programs
    Community Reinvestment
    Honest Banking Methods
    Initiative Driven
Innovation and new ideals are heavily encouraged

    Cons

Fast paced environment so if you aren't good at multitasking you will have a hard time adjusting. As long as you are able to be a quick leaner you will have no problem excelling at any TD Bank

    Advice to Management

Clearer lines of communication between the entire company

I worked at TD full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Good benefits, good training. It may be a good place to work outside of the call center, which is known locally as being a bad place to work and only for in-between jobs.

    Cons

The sales you are expected make while working in the call center are ridiculous and to meat your quotas you have to offer products that don't make sense. People who are promoted are people who can get people to open accounts they don't really need. Like, a third or fourth checking account to someone who can't manage the ones they have. You are incredibly isolated from co workers while taking back to back calls. When I was new, they had me shadow a more experienced Banking specialist who did not follow a lot of the training I had just had. She just randomly asked every single customer if they would like to open another checking account. I don't have a problem offering services but it was just ridiculous. They like to offer checking accounts vs savings because the average checking account produces more fees.

    Advice to Management

Customer service should be the focus. Train people to offer services that benefit the customer, not the bank. Hire more people to keep the call volume per specialist slightly lower.

I worked at TD full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great working environment all about the customer being happy and helping the customer not selling to the customer

    Cons

Difficult to move up in the company. When a customer is called to give a rating on their experience unless they understand english well the ratings are not accurate. I had a customer say to me "yeah TD bank called me i gave you the best rating and even mentioned you" turned out they gave us all 1 thinking it was the best.

    Advice to Management

Management needs to help develop employees better. Unless a position opened up employees don't get much training.

    Pros

Friendly environment, a lot of opportunities, great learning experience, still better than most banks when it comes to service. Employees are allowed to use judgement and encouraged to put customers first.

    Cons

Long hours. Can't help all customers you need to because there's not enough staff. Too many different scripts, campaigns and initiatives going on at once. This takes time away from customers.

    Advice to Management

    Simplify things.
