    I worked at TEA full-time

    Pros

Flat structure. Dedicated long-time employees who wholeheartedly love the company.

    Cons

Since the company is small and flat, there is little movement. Can be ruthless in evaluating job performance which leads to higher turnover for low level roles.

    Advice to Management

Do more to retain employees by promoting from within

I worked at TEA full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    - Fast paced environment
    - Learn a tremendous amount in a short time

    Cons

    - If you aren't part of the "good ole boys" club, you won't advance
    - Hard work and excellent results don't translate to promotions
    - Limited opportunities for advancement
    - Some members of trading team are very rude to employees that they view beneath them
    - Limited advancement opportunities given to external hires despite internal talent

    Advice to Management

There is massive turnover in the Bellevue office trade floor because they only promote or hire their drinking buddies. Additionally, some of these traders are rude to those that are "lower" than them. It's very demotivating to know that no matter how good your results are, you won't ever get promoted b/c you're not part of the club. Base promotions on talent, not who you want to get lunch with.

    Pros

The people are all very nice, the entire office has a family type environment feel, I frequently recieve 1-on-1 direction/training when learning new skills/processes

    Cons

The organization is very flat. There are only 2 or 3 steps between entry level and top executives. This doesn't bode well for those looking for rapid vertical advancement.

I worked at TEA (More than a year)

    Pros

Benefits were better than average. Company had plenty of money to throw around on non-essentials

    Cons

IT was a disaster professionally and socially. CIO was a no-show, management level was inept. Atmosphere was hostile bordering on abusive.

They wasted money and effort on the most useless technologies and platforms. Working there could completely sidetrack your career by making you proficient in non-marketable technologies.

If they had ever gone through a real audit, rather than an audit by there owner/members, all of IT management would be looking for jobs.

Company wasted millions on basically crap. The end of year party was the most expensive and juvenile event I've ever attended. I kept look to see who was on the Prom committee....

A company of 200 people needs four full time HR people? Maybe with the turnover and the number of complaints they need to handle from abusive leadership.

    Advice to Management

Stop treating the company as a way to go back to high school. Quit wasting the member/owner's money.

    I worked at TEA full-time

    Pros

It is a low stress environment
There are lots of opportunities to explore areas of personal interest
    They offer solid benefits

    Cons

    Limited opportunity for career advancement
There seems to be a disconnect between upper and middle management
It is a slow paced environment

    Advice to Management

Figure out a way to address the limited opportunities for career advancement
Improve communication between departments and transparency regarding strategic direction of the company

I have been working at TEA full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

TEA is a great place to work in an exciting industry. Employees are empowered and genuinely care about their clients. I enjoy being able to help community-owned utilities meet their goals to provide clean, reliable, and cost-effective energy to their customers.

    Cons

Young leadership results in some growing pains, but also a lot of opportunity.
