Advice to Management
Due to high turnover and sweeping layoffs over the past several years, a few first-level and middle managers at the corporate level have essentially been tenured, as they are the only folks who have remained through the years and have any working knowledge of the company's processes. A thorough review of attrition in all departments is long past due and would surely reveal causal relationships between these managers and high turnover rates in their respective departments.
It would be helpful to provide periodic and extensive management and leadership training to all personnel with any direct reports, and to repeat this training on an annual basis with refresher training held at 6-month intervals. Typically, best results are achieved when this type of training is provided off-site by an independent third party, such as a leadership conference or retreat.
Another helpful move would be to make use of anonymous peer feedback surveys, as well as anonymous employee-to-management review surveys, and that these surveys also be written, conducted, and reviewed by an INDEPENDENT source; the current feedback surveys developed by TEAM's QA department are sub-par at best, not widely advertised or solicited, and the data collected generally does not provide for actionable results.
