    Pros

The Good: Enthusiastic people both on the technical and non-technical side. Snacks! Based on the ZFS file systems, reasonably full featured and adequate for SMB

    Cons

The Bad: Middle management had serious gaps in their knowledge of their own product, and where flash offered advantages to their customers. That is ok. But they were reluctant to learn and actually got in the way of progress. If they encountered something new, rather than learn, they were hostile. These "new" things were actually industry standard knowledge and nothing really new.
The Ugly: They fired a lot of people. Of course, some was legitimate. Others were not legitimate, and were in some cases done to cover mistakes of management. What was interesting was the continuing existence of a very disruptive individual (who was eventually let go) while they fired other people for far less. Marketing was expending a lot of efforts contacting unqualified prospects.

    Advice to Management

Fill your knowledge and experience gaps, and if somebody seeks to help you, it may not be a good idea not to beat them up. You may actually learn something and improve

    Pros

Most of these reviews are written by management. Really, guys? It's doesn't it. The true story here is that they cut cost, cut cost cut employees just to get purchased.

    Cons

Typical company run by foreigners. Not a good place to work if you want to get ahead in your career.

    Advice to Management

Good thing you sold the company. Executives got the gold and employees got the shaft.

"Tegile: Going out of business - must liquidate!!!"

    Pros

    They give you a paycheck...

    Cons

Have you ever driven by a furniture store and have seen a sign in its windows that says: "Going out of business - must liquidate!!!"

    Enter sad, sad Tegile.

Tegile was recently "purchased" by WD. This was not a beneficial sale for Tegile or any of its investors (or existing customers, either). WD decided to take advantage of a dying company and buy their existing customers. Anyone that had purchased shares lost all their money since the stock of Tegile was worth absolutely nothing - actually worth less than the used gum under your shoe. Don't let the smoke and mirrors fool you. WD came in and took complete advantage of a company and its mgmt who didn't which way was up or down. Tegile was headed down the toilet with no more money in the bank.

Sad to see such a promising technology fall to the demise of completely inept mgmt. and lack of confident decision making. There were so many opportunities for Tegile to take the path to success, but did not.

    Advice to Management

Please do us all a favor and never start another company again. Sad that a few of you at the top made out so well and left others who contributed significantly to the company with nothing and actually LOST money in the process. That was so contradictory to the CEO's constant messaging of "execution" and we will all benefit because of it. What part of this deal with WD was executed well?

Here's a perfect Harvard Business Case Review of how to run a business completely into the ground.

    Pros

    Solid technology, some good folks

    Cons

The Blame-Game. Limited technical growth in product or direction. Me-too features, SMB focused. Technological identity crisis!

    Advice to Management

New Sales leadership might be a good start. A good culture gone bad

    Pros

Flexible work schedule, last round of funding was good.

    Cons

The company goals are straight forward to spend as little as possible on marketing and engineering to keep debt load very low. Medical Insurance does not have an HMO so very high deductible if you live outside of CA which most do. Dental is similar type program.

    Advice to Management

Add engineering resources to catch up. Engineering vision should be aligned with customer demand.

    Cons

    Advice to Management

Keep on driving, sharing strategy and results. It's great to have the direction, and regular updates on progress. Helps us maintain focus and pace.

    Pros

If you keep clear of the constant political drama, you'll find some quality people working there.

Depending on several factors, Tegile might offer a pretty good salary.

    Cons

Selling what amounts to polished up, 15 year old technology.

The executives DEFINITELY have their favorites. Don't cross them!

After a few months with the company, you'll realize that the founders saw this as a get rich quick scheme; but now they can't figure out how to cash in.

Without adequate leadership at the top; politics, back-biting, and revenge are the standard for this corporate culture.

    Advice to Management

This isn't high school. Stop playing favorites. Stop pitting people against each other.

There is plenty of need in the market. Invest in a leading edge technology because the wind is clearly falling out of the sails of your current product.
