I have been working at TEKsystems full-time

    Pros

Decent salary and benefits. Ability to work from home.

    Cons

Does not pull from top talent. Significantly lacks thought leadership.

    Advice to Management

Find a way to encourage agility and thought leadership.
Lots of work to be done in order to encourage thought leadership.

I worked at TEKsystems as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

Hourly rate when hired was competitive. People are friendly.

    Cons

When negotiating your contract they tell you that if you want PTO it could lower the rate of pay you've already agreed to before you knew that nugget of info.

Benefits were hot garbage, high deductible plan was not good and co-pays were ridiculous.

Frequent mix ups with PTO. I had to prove to the manager /w email correspondence with my recruiter that I was actually entitled to the holiday pay I was missing. I also used more PTO than I had available during the holiday season due to HR telling me I had more PTO than was actually available. So I used it and then had to accrue more PTO to cancel out my negative PTO balance from their error. Rather than taking accountability for the mistake, I was told to keep track of my PTO balance in the future. Mistakes happen, I understand that but be professional and own up to them.

    Advice to Management

You're a big corporation and can afford software suites. Your HR people shouldn't be tracking people's PTO through spreadsheets. For contractors you need to provide both a physical and digital copy of the contract agreed upon with all terms rather than make the employee seek this information out. Be more transparent to your employees.

I worked at TEKsystems as a contractor

    Pros

Hard to get fired, once your 90 days have been completed.

    Cons

You can easily get in with little to no technical skill, trying to get pay increase is like pulling teeth. Little room for advancement.

    Advice to Management

Happy employees make for a happy company

I worked at TEKsystems full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great Pay and very good benefits; good overall support from corporate and office staff; top notch recruiting database and plenty of tools to succeed.

    Cons

VERY long hours, high stress environment, lack of leadership throughout causes extreme micromanagement. The company preaches team work but that’s not the case, it’s every man for himself and CYA.

    Pros

Learning abilities in various departments. There is always the possibility of building relationships to leverage your next steps. It is very dynamic from a race relations standpoint.

    Cons

The company does not always support ones hard work by financial remuneration but if you carry news on your peers they promote such behavior

    Advice to Management

Start supporting your teams and leadership to be their best selves. Promoting successful work life balance is a key ingredient for a sustainable team

I worked at TEKsystems as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

Due to the size of the company, lots of jobs available

    Cons

    Lower than industry standard pay.
    No benefits.
Poor communication from recruiter - you're never really sure what's going on.

    Advice to Management

Recruiters need to communicate. Return calls. Provide a status. Provide benefits. With the size of your company, there is no reason to not offer reasonable health insurance options

I worked at TEKsystems full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Instills great work habits. Great "first job" out of college. Young, energetic atmosphere.

    Cons

Hours - long and boring. Putting in a 7:30 - 5:30 day is hardly acceptable and you'll catch glares on your way out the door. Culture - a young employee base breeds an unprofessional environment, and boundaries broken between work/life are consistently violated & blurred. Upward Mobility - you work in sales to be promoted to sales and start over, it doesn't make sense. Not enough options. Politics - personally, I did not feel that leadership respected me as an individual or had my best interest in mind. I didn't respect their leadership style either. Furthermore, AM's (first promotion after recruiter) are mostly young 20's and act superior to recruiters in their same age demographic.

    Advice to Management

    I worked at TEKsystems full-time

    Pros

Good work experience coming out of college. Let's you know what you like and don't like. Develop strong work ethic in sales environment.

    Cons

Long hours, with minimal pay. You get sucked in by finally making decent money and it doesn't make sense to switch to something else after everything you invested.

    Advice to Management

Not all decisions should be business focused. Take care of your people and they'll take care of you.

Former Employee - Technical Recruiter in Nashville, TN

I worked at TEKsystems full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

-A good amount of genuine people there that care about your success
-Good place to start out in staffing
    -Great training

    Cons

-Bad management/turnover in the Nashville office. DBO and other seasoned account managers take a lot of time off and come and go as they please
-Can't seem to let you separate work from personal life
-Pressure you to work long hours
-A lot of bullying in the morning "red zone"..coworkers will go out of their way to try and embarrass you during it and tell you it's a learning experience
-Pressured to go to happy hours all the time

    Advice to Management

The Nashville office needs a lot of work. Tons of brand new people there and not a lot of forward movement.
