I worked at TEKsystems as a contractor

    Pros

Company benefits and other perks made it one of the better consulting/contracting companies to work for.

    Cons

With a specialized skill, it was sort of a letdown to not find anything else right away to stay with the company

    Pros

It has a good culture here. Lots of happy people here. A lot of people enjoy the culture and seem happy coming to work.

    Cons

Below market value pay definitely. Seems cliquey at times. If you dont buy into the culture you dont move up

  4. "Great first job out of college, but only a stepping stone. Pay structure needs to change!"

I have been working at TEKsystems full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great office culture with fun coworkers and fun events. Great networking. Immersion in local events. Good place to professionally grow. A great stepping stone for your career, though not a forever home. Really helps teach you a lot of life lessons and business etiquette. Good benefits. Cool annual sales event and incentive trip. Inspiring leaders. Good process of going about quality. Good promotion from within.

    Cons

Very high attrition. Feels like someone quits weekly. The pay is simply too low to survive. You're told 50k base salary after a 13 week training period, but there are other requirements you have to hit that honestly take months, if not a year for some. In the meantime, you're making $12/hour with "unlimited overtime," but to make enough money for standard rent and expenses, you will have to work 12-14 hour days cold calling, including weekends. A typical day starts at 7:15 or 7:30 and ends at around 7PM. Your commission is a few extra dollars on your paycheck per person you hire, you will never see your full commission. You could be making TEKsystems $520,000/year, but you only see $55,000 of that. You have to go on 5 breakfasts/coffees/lunches/dinners a week (and gas to/from) and have to pay for it out of your own pocket and don't have a company card, taking out of your meager salary for 2-4 weeks at a time before you're reimbursed. Most other companies in the market pay their recruiters significantly more. I've heard TEK referred to as a "sweat shop" by other companies.

    Advice to Management

If you paid recruiters $50,000/year from the moment that they were hired, you would have a lot less attrition, employees would feel more valued, less overworked, and less stressed, and their 8 hour day would be used to work hard and would be used wisely. Leadership should also be annually reviewed by the people they lead.
