Culture, goal oriented. Colleagues make or break the job. Get to meet a lot of people and make a difference in people's lives.

    Cons

Recruiting is hard generally. Long hours, definite favorites. Recruiting is difficult in a small city. Work life balance is hard to achieve.

    Pros

Great company, looks out for you as an employee.

    Cons

NO con against Tek specifically but the fact the work I had was contract and didn't end up becoming permanent was a drag.

I worked at TEKsystems full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Gave me my first shot at managing.
Received quality people to run the help desk.
Tried to train when it came to managing - tough to do this though.

    Cons

Started very low in my salary.
No support from above - had to rely on myself - which may have been better in the long term.
No work life balance - but this was my decision - and our account was chaos

    Advice to Management

It was really tough to figure out our end goals for the year - need better communication. I give them credit - they knew that and were working to resolve.

I worked at TEKsystems full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    *Great culture
    *Great people
*You will learn a lot if it is your first job out of school
    *Good upward mobility
    *If you produce, great pay
*There are some truly great leaders who will make a big impact on you

    Cons

    *Very political
*Leadership has your back when you do well
*Leaders need to do a better job keeping up with the industry and specific markets

    Advice to Management

*Do not promote people merely because they are well connected, just because someone is a good sales person does not mean they will be a good leader
*Keep doing the training that is great and does go a long way
*Listen to people who are proven resources
*You cannot run smaller markets like you run larger markets. Taking a cookie cutter approach is why the company is failing to grow market share at the rate they want to
*Good job on making salary/comp structure more competitive

I worked at TEKsystems as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

TekSystems was a great place to get range of experience at a variety of positions and learn from many different people.

    Cons

Often, I felt that the opportunities were limited and recruiters often pigeon-holed contract employees to positions that allowed them to sustain, rather than grow.

    Advice to Management

Invest in your employees; taking your employees out to lunch is nice, though giving them opportunities to grow and succeed is even better.

I worked at TEKsystems full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Managers who care about people. Very collaborative culture. Tons of opportunity. Some of the most brilliant people I've ever worked with.

    Cons

New guard of management is leading the culture in the wrong direction IMO. Excessive focus on growth and increasing profit at the expense of core values is a dark path to follow and is the reason why I ultimately chose to leave.

    Advice to Management

Return to core values. Stop the "maniacal focus on growth" for growths sake. Grinding people into dust for the sake of profit is a fools game. It is not sustainable and will eventually lead to the demise of a truly great organization.
