I worked at TEKsystems full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

TEK provides adequate training for entry level recruiters/sales.
You travel to Arizona (if you're on the west) for a week long training session after being on the job for a few weeks.
Your peers and account managers are available for sales role-plays and shadowing.

    Cons

Office culture can really vary depending on location. Sometimes they can get very cliquey.
Hard to carve out a career path in recruiting.
Starting salary is not great especially if you are in California.
Very old school mentality when it comes to work/life balance, remote work, etc..
Most leave or get scouted by other companies to be internal recruiters which is easier than technical recruiting for contractors.

    Advice to Management

Mentor-ship is important. Cultivate a culture of mentoring and review the compensation plans especially in large cities.

I have been working at TEKsystems (More than a year)

    Pros

There are a ton of great people at TEKsystems and I've made a ton of great friendships here. It is also a great company to start your career in because you get a lot of exposure to how lots of different Fortune 500 companies run. As a recruiter you also are exposed to many different skill sets which is good too. Everyone works on commission as well and there are some people in my office who are in their mid/late-20s and are making well over $150 -200k/year. If money motivates you then TEK is your place to be.

    Cons

Aside from moving into Account Management there aren't too many other options to grow in the company. They have lead positions but I don't think being a lead is much different than being a senior recruiter. There is also a standing 8am meeting at every TEKsystems office in the nation. If you're not a morning person then this won't be the place for you.

    Advice to Management

Management should ease up on unnecessary tasks like recruiter reports. If the company wants to stay competitive with these newer, trendier companies they also need to allow us to dress casually. Most new recruiters are fresh out of college and they don't want to go and spend their money on clothes they can't wear outside of work.

    Pros

great pay especially when getting overtime

    Cons

slow to increase earned pay increases; hard to get a hold of onsite manager when a negative experience happens with the client (Apple) unless the client executes the complaint. Seem to make decisions in favor of majority minority with H-1B Visas as opposed to US Citizen with respect to cultural expressions while on the job (meaning US colloquialism are taken as offensive while foreign holiday or cultural expression is embraced).

    Advice to Management

Please remember "who brung you to the dance". There should be tolerance for all, race, creed, religion, sexual orientation, and cultural expression. Americans in America should be allowed to use regional colloquial cultural expression with out fear of repercussion or loss of contract.

I have been working at TEKsystems as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

    - Work you hard but train you how to work effectively
    - Incredible opportunity for advancement
    - Uncapped commission opportunity

    Cons

    - Some people think you have to work too much but those are the same people who aren't successful here. In order to be successful, you have to work hard.

    Advice to Management

Continue to invest the same effort into development. There is nothing better for a young professional than training that caters to their success and the business' at the same time.

    Pros

You may be fortunate to work with a rep who is actually proactive - checking in periodically, meeting up for coffee, asking about future plans, etc.
Pay is competitive, and able to find two decent contracts in my area.

    Cons

Your experience as a consultant is directly related to how good your rep is. I had one great one who checked in frequently and gave me assignment leads before my contract was up. The other was worthless - stood me up for coffee, didn't return calls, and basically vanished as my 2nd contract expired.

    Advice to Management

Train reps in the basic expectations of their job, especially when it comes to managing consultants. Maintain an internal list of postings that current contractors can access for first dibs prior to be posted on major job boards.
