I worked at TELUS (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Flexible work styles. Decent pay. Average benefits. Great employee share plan and matching RRSP contributions. Great people to work with and management is usually quite open and transparent.

    Cons

Large company that is slow to react and make decisions. Constant reorganizations and change for what seems like the sake of change. Very profit driven and engagement surveys are not exactly above board.

I have been working at TELUS part-time

    Pros

Give great benefits (medical, prescription, and paramedical coverage).

Room for advancement in higher levels of the company.

    Cons

Work hard to keep their money in their pockets.

Micromanage alot especially in the call centre environment

    Advice to Management

    Micromanage less
    Listen and consider staff recommendations
Better pay and not send jobs overseas to countries like Phillipines, India, and Guatemala.

I worked at TELUS full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

The people are the amazing part of the job. Faced with so much adversity the employees always band together. People and helping others in time of need.

    Cons

Workload is completely unmanageable. It's inhumane to expect that much from one person. Teams are continuously asked to do more with less resources. Sooner or later there is a breaking point.

    Advice to Management

Expectations are too extreme. Work life balance is non existent. Evenings and weekends are for family time. Upper leaders need to disconnect on weekends and ensure that message is carried all the way down. Instead upper leaders are working weekends expecting all their reports to do the same yet the salary does not reflect that.

I worked at TELUS full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Excellent training, great "high level" corporate culture, good benefits, Lots of personal growth potential.

    Cons

Lots of empire building, certain areas of the company have different cultural values than the overall corporation, Sales culture disconnected from the rest of the organization.

    Advice to Management

Overall audit of sales performance vs. revenue contributions would reveal a lot of discrepancies.
