I worked at TELUS full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

TELUS has lots of opportunities to continuously grow and learn. The business -- wireline and wireless -- is expanding and they do a lot of hiring.

    Cons

It can be hard to get a raise of more than 1% to 2% each year if you stay in the same job. The best way to get pay increases is to change roles.

    Advice to Management

It would be great if you would have a mentoring program -- and not just one mentor for the year or so -- but several mentors depending on the problem.

I worked at TELUS full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

The people are the amazing part of the job. Faced with so much adversity the employees always band together. People and helping others in time of need.

    Cons

Workload is completely unmanageable. It's inhumane to expect that much from one person. Teams are continuously asked to do more with less resources. Sooner or later there is a breaking point.

    Advice to Management

Expectations are too extreme. Work life balance is non existent. Evenings and weekends are for family time. Upper leaders need to disconnect on weekends and ensure that message is carried all the way down. Instead upper leaders are working weekends expecting all their reports to do the same yet the salary does not reflect that.

I worked at TELUS (More than 5 years)

    Pros

great benefits, ability to work from home.

    Cons

micromanaged. even trips to the washroom are timed. Many long time employees who just put the time in. I had one coworker who could tell you and will take 'sick leave' the minute he is eligible for full pay time off.

    Advice to Management

consider personal needs and live work balance

    Pros

Incumbent network for both mobility and landline

    Cons

    Incumbent issues,
Slow to change (at times, not always).
Silo'd internal infrastructure. ( Common with most large companies).

    Advice to Management

Overall a great place to work. Anyone that has worked within large organizations, the cons are very similar and internally the company is always working to overcome these.
