I worked at TELUS Mobility (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Salary/benefits are great. One of highest starting salaries in field.
    Great co-workers
Nice community programs that align with corp values
Various departments to potentially move around & grow.

    Cons

-Work life balance depends on your dept. & boss.
-Schedules are rough & takes time to move up in seniority.
-Drastic company cut-backs ; no incentives, no salary increases, limit on promotions & no more company sponsored events(no Christmas party either).
Continuous lay-offs & dept. shut downs while transferring all to Outsourcing.
Nonetheless, upper management(Director, VP's & CEO) not effected

    Advice to Management

Bring back old Corporate values & invest in local employees. Company focus on 'Customer value' & this can be achieved if same focus done internally. Clearnet days mentality

I worked at TELUS Mobility full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

the best part of it is the people that you will meet. like any other places, you will get along with some and others but overall everyone is respectful even though they will always be someone talking on your back. you also learn from this experience just like any other job. negotiation and resolution of problems are the main part of your job.

    Cons

the management team. Lack of leadership and teamwork. Lack of professionalism and engagement even though the number are higher than what the employees think. the management team advise to write negative comment on the engagement survey; However, it is better to give a good grade in order to show that the department is engaged and bring more jobs to Montreal!!! Managers are unable to answer basic question about career opportunities or Benefits. you are advise to talk to them but at the end the same answer come over and over. seniority seems to be given more credit than merit. Senior management are not really aware of how things are going. they base themselves on number which is logical. Middle management are completely different when Senior management are visiting the office. the culture and the values of company are excellent but did not have a place in our department. this review is really for the client account management team. I had the chance to talk to co-workers from other departments and their experience is very positive.

    Advice to Management

Need to lead by example and embrace the culture and the values of the company. lack of engagement from the management team( I had 5 different manager). they seemed lost and lack leadership and knowledge. not the best department to move up! very stressful due to the atmosphere and lack of recognition.

I have been working at TELUS Mobility (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Great benefits and great pay (for a call centre job)
Employee share purchase plan option (probably my favorite thing about the company)
    $500 annual "dream fund"

    Cons

    very stressful, little recognition
very, very difficult to advance unless if you "kiss butt"
Management expects you to do a million tasks with multiple applications and little training in little time

    Advice to Management

hire the proper amount of people to support the client base
coordinate with marketing team so that drastic changes dont keep resulting in service level challenges

    Pros

good work environment , geared towards customer first. Opportunities for advancement. decent bonus. The company genuinely tries to listen to its employees, engagement is very big.

    Cons

Although they listen, as with all large corporations change is slow and without transparency. They tend to benefit tenure over skill.

    Advice to Management

Look within your ranks for motivated individuals, and move them into roles they can produce for the company. Eliminate the "next in line" though process as it is counterproductive.
