I have been working at TELUS (More than a year)

    Pros

    Friendly environment
    Pay was really good.
Great first or second job for folks.

    Cons

Big selling point for me was career advancement, however they hired four supervisors from the date I started till the day I moved on, not one came from the floor.

Senior Management seemed more concerned with the relationship with the client, rather than the customers, which leads to inefficient process being incorporated that does not serve the customer, but rather the client (i.e. conflicts with customer first mentality they preach).

    Advice to Management

Do not make promises about hiring from within and subsequently hire a bunch of supervisors who have less experience than some of your agents. Focus on the customer and the client will be happy, instead of the other way around. Several process were created for Googles data needs which hinders customer service.

I have been working at TELUS full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Variety of cultures and people work together with very few issues.

    Cons

Poor management oversight and enforcement of SOP.

    Advice to Management

Create a new position such as a MOD whose soul purpose is to watch for the employees that take advantage of the system and waste time, hurting everyone on the floor.

I worked at TELUS (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Fair managers, awesome coworkers, easy job. The best part of the job to me were all the people I work with. Managers go out of their way for you.

    Cons

Micromanagement at times (due to the client). Too many company changes that make it very difficult to embrace.

    Advice to Management

Stop showing signs of weakness. The managers and OMs make it very clear that they are stressed out by their jobs, and it trickles down.

I worked at TELUS full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great employee benefit package, and they do care about their employees well being to an extent. Due to the size of the organization you can end up touching a lot of different aspects of the business and there are lots of learning opportunities and developmental opportunities available. Flexible work styles is a major selling point.

    Cons

Moving up the ladder is very difficult. The company likes to hire externally or through referrals rather than promote from within most of the time. Salary increase is 10% max per promotion without escalation to the VP level. Management does not often take the initiative to discuss your career so you have to keep it front and center on your own.

Nothing whatsoever this place was by far the worst place I've worked

    Cons

The people, the customers, the hours, the pay, management, the politics

    Advice to Management

Fond a better OM someone who isn't friends with people in HR and violates laws. The system in place sucks

I have been working at TELUS full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The amount of different people you will meet here is amazing from different culture's race and sexual orientation. Most of the TL's are amazing and helpful They offer a Gym and Game Room free to use during your work hours and the engagement team is always coming up with fun activities. The site director does fun things for the holidays.

    Cons

Work to Life Balance is horrible. They have a no fault attendance policy as most call centers do but it's really more of a benefit to the company then it is to the employees. The job advancement is horrible and the transferring between campaigns is even worse (if you are on a corrective final you can't move or advance at all). Shift bids are every 4 months and if you have daycare needs don't even bother asking for help as there will be none given. As for the core values that they express so much about and drill into you, I have yet to see them actually put into practice. Some of the things that have happened since my employment make me feel as if I am in high school all over again. There is a lot of room for improvement on quit a few of things.

    Advice to Management

You really need to change the attendance policy completely. I understand business needs have to be met but you are punishing employees for things they can't control. If there is doctor's documentation missed work time then it should not be held against the employee at all not rolled into 1 occurrence. There should also be certain shifts set aside for employees who have daycare needs as some of the shift's don't work for the single parents as daycare's aren't open past certain times or weekends. Also a little more employee appreciation would help with moral on the floor instead of making everything so business formal. I feel that if some minor adjustments are made then the employees would be happier and this would be a great company.

    Pros

    Great Office
    Nice People
    Fun Environment
    Repetitive Work
    Poor Time Off Benefits

    Cons

    Low Pay
    Limited Growth Opportunity
    Harsh Deadlines
    Heavy Workload
Too Many Tasks Added Onto Your Core Function

    Advice to Management

Please keep jobs clearly outlined and you must raise the annual review raises. They do not match the rate of inflation let alone career growth.

I have been working at TELUS (More than a year)

    Pros

Thorough training, overtime, several trainings to improve agent skills, in upselling, customer satisfaction guaranteed. Great flexibility, and the time to help customer not matter how long it took. Bonuses.

    Cons

No room for growth(promotion wise). schedules changed every 30 days, guidelines and rules were implemented, but not enforced. Too much partiality.

    Advice to Management

Reward hard and faithful agents w/promotions, steady schedules (be considerate of the lives of agents outside of work). Appreciate hard workers and they'll work twice as hard for you.
