I worked at TELUS as a contractor (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Telus has the best work life balance available across the world. The company culture is very flexible and understanding.

The employees and managers and very competent, encouraging and good leaders.

Its competitive and the projects have lots of opportunity to learn and gain knowledge. Contractors are treated like full time employees and invited to meetings and events where possible.

    Cons

Contractors are paid very low due to competitive vendor strategy.
Fewer projects and work sometimes during the year.

    Advice to Management

Better allocation of resources on projects to enable them to work and have better opportunities at growth

    Neutral Outlook

I worked at TELUS as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

-very positively vibes in the work atmosphere
-good team-work occasions through various projects

    Cons

I was more interested in Network Management, however was forced to do software development work even after repeatedly conveying my career focus to the supervisor.
No official training period or mentor provided.

    Advice to Management

I was not given proper onboarding training before entering the internship. It was as if I was just hired by my supervisor, the company didn't play a major role unless it required printing ID card.
Other than simply contracting out interns, it would be best to offer them a choice of a permanent job.

I worked at TELUS full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Pay and benefit is good with RPP matching and profit sharing plan. Work from home flexibility.

    Cons

Lay off happens every year. No matter business is good or bad, your seniority, or if you are associate, manager or director, you have no job security. Employees remain in the department were burdened with double workload and unpaid overtime.

    Advice to Management

Skilled and experienced employees are asset to organization, and frequent lay off impact existing employees' engagement.
The main reason I quit is pressure and unmanageable workload (working 13-15 hours per day)

    Cons

I really don't have much to say about cons about the company

    Pros

Great team members who work well together. Flexible working hours, work at home (if job / team member qualifies).

    Cons

Work life balance a big challenge....do more with less.

I worked at TELUS full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Has a structured performance review system.

    Cons

Career pathing within the company looks good on paper. In reality your career development opportunity disappear when management outsource your job position to offshore and suddenly your job is eliminated and you become unemployed.

    Advice to Management

Far too frequent laid offs is a demotivating factor for employees.
