I worked at TELUS full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Gave me an opportunity to develop in my career supported by a decent management team. A good working environment and benefits package (include flexible/remote workstyles).

    Cons

Like a lot of large corporations, there are some areas of the organization that still get bogged down in too much bureaucracy.

    Advice to Management

A fair bit of turnover recently has resulted in a lot of experienced resources leaving and leaving a void within the company which is not always easy to fill by new hires.

I have been working at TELUS full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Work life balanc: flexible work arrangement (from home), pension matching, employee share purchase plan, 3 weeks of vacation to start, easy to network within the organization, health benefits, $15/mo employees cell phone plan (3GB data), 100% donation matching, TELUS likely to pay for your training/education

    Cons

Certain departments have bureaucratic process and rigid culture, making it difficult to move projects quickly. Compensation way below market rate for internal hires. Experience will vary depending on your manager/director, make sure you can "speak their language" and have similar work styles before you accept the job

    Advice to Management

You should have a plan to bring salaries and benefits for internal hires to mid point as opposed to having preference over external hires

I have been working at TELUS part-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Starting wage for most call centre positions is usually $20/hr(although this may decrease in the future). There is a raise every 900 hours or so and also raise for cost of living. Benefits are sufficient. There are Bravo points you can get to put towards giftcards, etc. There is quite a bit of overtime available at 1.5x pay/ 2xpay(although this may change). Lots of internal opportunities if you really apply yourself.

    Cons

    - There is a lot of nepotism
    - Telus likes to offshore a lot(search Telus International on Facebook)

I worked at TELUS (Less than a year)

    Pros

Good hours, Fair pay, Interesting Environment, Peers acted as competition driving us to make sales.

    Cons

Bad Management, Lacking Organization, Training process severely lacking in product information and real world customer interaction experiences. Only 3 days of training is too little which reflected in our sales numbers being lower in the beginning than the end. More On site training.

    Advice to Management

Know what you want before you send us out. Better organization

    Advice to Management

Spend more time addressing Best Practices as opposed to spending majority of time on breaking down the causes.
