    Pros

I have amazing co-workers. We always have each other backs and mentally communicating everything we do. Family is the word.

    Cons

Management is sub-par. Being too good of a worker gets you stuck in the position you started in. A joke is what I should say.

    Advice to Management

    Buck up

I have been working at TETRA Technologies full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Some great people to work with, but the good ones are leaving and the work is stacking up on those who stay.

    Cons

Horrible management within the Corporate Office. There is literally a VP with no one that reports to them, after being reassigned last year, yet workers are laid off. Projects are always run over budget and never on time, but the VP (that has no one reporting to them) gets praised and rewarded for those projects. HR does not work to correct complainants and you will be punished for taking complainants to them.

    Advice to Management

Keep the good people by rewarding them and not your favorites. Stop punishing workers that have legitimate complainants.

I worked at TETRA Technologies full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Friendly coworkers, plenty of variation in tasks to prevent boredom, decent benefits package

    Cons

Company thinks of employees as cogs rather than people. Decisions are made based on outdated information.

    Advice to Management

Your employees are your greatest asset. Treat them as such.

    Pros

Decent benefits package. Generally a good work rotation (14/14 or 14/7). Most people left here have been with the division for 10+ years. If you work hard, apply yourself, show commitment and set attainable goals you can succeed here.

    Cons

Not many. TETRA tends to hand on to bad apples a bit too long. Communication between the field personnel and management has lacked quite a bit since the down cycle of the industry has begun.

    Advice to Management

Expand services. Cross-Train personnel into other TETRA Service Lines, this not only benefits the employees waiting to go to work, but also builds a stronger, more well-rounded employee base. Additionally, when one business segment is busy and one is slow, this will allow TETRA to use personnel already on payroll & not hire personnel for one department when another department is struggling.

I worked at TETRA Technologies (More than a year)

    Pros

Medical, Dental, Vision insurance. Company truck. Lots of hours.

    Cons

The coordinators and management talk ill about most of the workers there. There were just 2 major accidents where 2 people ended up in the ER with broken bones and management was more concerned with equipment than workers. They hired new employees higher than the guys who were already working and won't take care of the current employees. They promise advancement, but you won't see. You get a company truck, but not allowed to use it for personal use. Be warned you will work in every weather condition and blamed for every thing, even when it is not your fault. Management is more concerned with money and equipment than people. They will say they're family-oriented, but you will rarely see your family and you will not be allowed to have time off.

    Advice to Management

Service your equipment correctly. Remember that your employees are PEOPLE and their LIVES are more important than a job.

I have been working at TETRA Technologies full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Most often am able to put in days work. It's a pay check. Better than unemployed

    Cons

Cut workers, cut wages, cut travel pay, cut per diem. Management receiving bonuses for making cuts.

I have been working at TETRA Technologies full-time

    Pros

Air conditioned building. Internet access while at work. Trying to think of more but none come to mind...

    Cons

They've cut salaries across the board by 15% and ceased all 401k matching. Yet they're still hiring new people. And those people don't start off with the 15% pay cut. On top of the new hires, one key department (Information Systems/Information Technology) has more than double the number of consultants in there than actual company employees. These consultants are being paid 2-3 times what an employee makes doing the same or similar job. The department management assigns the consultants projects. The consultants come to the few remaining full-time employees and have them do the majority of the work for these projects. Then the consultants finish it off, turn it back in to the management who present it to the executives. Because of this, management of this department is still CURRENTLY receiving tens of thousands of dollars in project completion bonuses while the rank-and-file employee gets a "thank you" for enduring the pay cuts and mandatory furloughs (unpaid days off). There is absolutely zero opportunity for advancement because management of this department simply fills any open position or even perceived need with 2 or more consultants. Needless to say, to find the level of morale in this department, you're not going to need shovels but rather a backhoe or two and a lot of time. Human Resources have meetings with employees to "get a pulse" of the department every few months or so which might seem to be a good thing but they simply ignore what's told to them and nothing positive ever comes from these meetings. In as few words as possible this department is a complete mess and is emblematic of the company as a whole.

    Advice to Management

Nothing. They won't listen anyway. They believe they can do no wrong and offering advice will only hasten your involuntary departure from the company.

I worked at TETRA Technologies full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Family type of environment, at least with lower level employees.

    Cons

Poor and shady financial management. Senior management appoints unqualified friends to management positions.

    Advice to Management

Hire/appoint people who are qualified for management positions.
