Excellent Place to Work
Sep 22, 2014 - Anonymous Employee in Irvine, CARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
I get to work on diverse set of projects, with very smart coworkers. The management structure is very flat, so there's little in the way of micro-managing; you have a large say in how you manage your time and prioritize your own projects. Everybody has their own office, so it's easy to concentrate and get work done. At the same time, though, most people leave their doors open, and everyone is approachable amenable to discussing each others' projects. We aren't divided into competing 'teams' or 'departments', so all of the incentives encourage collaboration between colleagues.
Cons
You can certainly gain responsibilty as you continue to work at TGS, and your total compensation will reflect this. However, since the management structure is so flat, you won't get increasingly impressive titles to match your responsibilities. In fact, you're never really given an official title at all.

Pros
Having worked in both small and large companies, my preference is definitely to be in a smaller firm. TGS has that small company feel, but also projects that are big, complex, interesting. Plenty of variety, lots of smart people, very collaborative. Company takes extremely good care of employees.
Cons
There's a 20 word minimum here, so really just filling space. No company or job is perfect, but there's really not much to complain about.

A cool place to work!
Feb 27, 2014 - Software Engineer in Irvine, CARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
This is the best company I have worked so far in my career (and I am hoping to spend the rest of my long career with TGS). This company fosters creativity, enables collaboration, and absolutely a delightful environment to work. Having worked in corporate environments for a lot of years, I can tell you that this is a wonderful place to work. Little bit of personal story in order: I moved across the country to join TGS and I was worried about the risk associated with the move. To my surprise, everybody in here was very welcoming, and has very pleasant personality. After the interview, I got a call from the founders directly. I was captured by the founder's enthusiasm, creativity, and analytical mind in just 15 minutes of conversation. It also tells you a lot about the culture when the founder casually joins you at the lunch table. Further, founders of the company are charitable, and there's no sense of corporate greed here. I really do appreciate their kindness to humanity and I am motivated to do some charity work just seeing their work. A few engineers here are downright geniuses. You can see great analytical minds, software engineers who can create new type of file systems, developers who used to write gaming software, and kernel engineers. Company cares about the employees, provides for great medical benefits (I paid 5$ co-pay for a costly medicine a few days ago!), fully stocked kitchen, and free lunch that you can order in the web! Get this, there is a workout gym, and a rock climbing wall in the premise. Of course, ride your bike to work, there is a bike rack here too :)
Cons
Definitely, TGS has the hardest interview process I encountered personally (even after writing 4 books in my field, I still couldn't answer a few questions correctly). So, yes, expect a hard interview process. I have interviewed with some of the big internet companies, and I felt that TGS selection process is harder. IMHO, that's a good thing, you will be working with a few smartest engineers in the planet.

Hello! Great place to work I would still be there but, I had to change jobs due to a moving location. I love this place. I miss everyone.
Cons
Honestly nothing to complain about. Except maybe you could teach Tufin how to run a business and hire people.

Pros
The company fosters an environment of collaboration and intellectual honesty. It's been an absolute delight working with the team of world class researchers and engineers. Employees are well taken care of. Hiring new people is rare, the interviews are difficult and the bar is set high.
Cons
New employees tend to put on a few pounds from the free lunches and snacks ;)

Pros
Smart people, great culture, the opportunity to contribute to something bigger. Really like the collaboration between people and teams. Rock climbing wall and casual dress code are a nice bonus
Cons
Not sure what to put here. Company is pretty selective, but in my book that's a good thing.
