Pros
Good company environment, nice co-workers
Cons
the job is Intensive. basic salary
Thanks for your feedback. It sounds like you've enjoyed working at our company and we're so happy to hear that. You're right, working in sales is intense and not for everyone. In regards to the salary, and based on the nature of the job, we find that our compensation and benefits packages are fair, since we always train our employees on how to make the sale and then its on them to show results. We reward our employees for their successful deals, and thus many are given the opportunity to make lots of money only if they put in the effort. Many thanks again for your feedback.

Not for the lazy...
Jun 2, 2015 - Sales Executive in Chicago, ILRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
I loved the people I worked with. If you're a sports fan, you will find this job more enjoyable than those who are not. However it is not necessary to be a sport fanatic to do this job. If you are really persistent and are able to stay positive during tough times then you will succeed. You also have to be able to talk to people easily. The training here is excellent, but the job is very tough. If you are good at sales, you will enjoy the uncapped commission structure. The training is also continuous; there are several training meetings each week to help you develop as a sales executive.
Cons
The yearly salary for a sales executive (which everyone has to start off as) is below minimum wage. They do offer uncapped commission but you have to be very good at sales to even make a sale. What they don't tell you is that sales are usually few and far between, unless you're a manager who can make business about once a month. The packages you sell are usually priced very high, so it's good commission wise, but can be harder to sell. The job can also be very mundane. If you need variety in your job responsibilites, this job isn't for you. You basically are making calls all day with a maximum of 2 hours of research each day. There is a very high turnover rate because people don't anticipate how hard this job is. I can't tell you how many people have quit before their first month while I was working there.

Know what you're getting yourself into

3 day training was helpful for future sales roles I suppose
Cons
- 2 computers for a 12 person sales team - restricted time on said computers to try to generate any leads - LONG hours including the 3-4 hours you'll spend at home researching leads for the next day - absurd goals for # of calls/day and time spent on the phone/day - entire sales process is based around lying to the customer - zero relationship building with customer whatsover - to make the salary that is listed during your interview you'd need to average a sale per month (not a chance that EVER happens) - please understand exactly what this job is before you consider it any further. Do not be tricked during your interview. This is a COLD CALL SALES JOB. And I mean ICE COLD. You will get ZERO tools to help you succeed. You will literally sit at a desk with just your phone, your script, and a jumbled mess of notecards with your "leads" on them. Nothing else. If you are interested in being on the phone non stop with secretaries and assistants all day being denied the opportunity to speak to a CEO then this might be the job for you

Great trainig, great support from management
Jun 8, 2015 - Sales Executive in Chicago, ILRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
As the last reviewer stated, this job is not for the lazy or for people with so much going on in their lives. It requires a lot of focus and positive attitude. I've been in sales for 8 yrs and this is by far the best company with excellent sales training. The sales manager in Chicago, British young man, is an extra ordinary leader and always goes above and beyond to train and lead by example. Our team was one of the most positive and I believe it's a reflection of leadership. It's unfortunate that I had to move on because I had so much going in my life but will definitely go back to THG sports if given the opportunity and once I have my mind right. I have grown so much in such a short period of time, I enjoyed being around my co-workers and most importantly, my manager was awesome.
Cons
It's difficult to balance work and personal life especially if you have kids, but if you manage your time wisely, it can be done. Not too many cons because this job really depends on how much you are willing to apply yourself as you are given all the necessary tools to help you succeed.

Very hard to make a living
Jan 31, 2012 - Sports Account Executive in Chicago, ILRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
To improve your resume if you would like to start a career in sales. It is a fun and relaxed atmosphere to work in.
Cons
It's nearly impossible to make a long term living here. I've never seen a place with a high turn over as they do. It is nearly impossible to open new accounts. 4-5 months into the position I have only seen 2 non-manager emploees make a sale.

Don't Know How They Make It
Feb 9, 2013 - Sales Representative in Chicago, ILRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
You get a lot of experience cold calling, getting rejected, selling an unsellable product, and having a manager play around all day and breathe down your neck.
Cons
This was the worst job I have ever had. They talk it up as something you can make a career out of the interview... yea..... You get no support unless you like being yelled at and treated like a dog in front of an entire room. The managers are either not there or they are messing around while you're busting your tail for a sale. You are basically cheap labor, you work yourself to death getting names and numbers and leads but once its close to the event they let you go so the manager gets all the commission. Plus after lunch most of the veterans and managers get drunk and play with their golf games while your still working ..... Please listen to others because I didn't and I sure wish I had really paid attention to the negative unhappy reviews

Talking to CEOs of Fortune 500 companies about sports and how sporting events are beneficial for client relationships. Commission is great if you make the sale
Cons
Sales are few and far between. Even the best of the best only close once a month. Blank months will happen. Getting a CEO to turn on his head to make a split second decision on a 5/6 figure investment on a sport hospitality venue takes a clever song and you only get one shot to sing it to an individual because the company operates around cancellations to create urgency for the package.

Terrible. Don't believe a word they say. This is what I would imagine working at a sweat shop is like.

Most co-workers are sport fans/ex athletes. Its fun talking about sports.
Cons
sales "executives" are underpaid and under supported. You are over promised and lied to constantly from the higher ups in the company. Even the managers are lied to by the directors. Encouraged to lie to customers just to make a sale... and this job is entirely made up of cold calling... which in my opinion is a dying form of sales. Not worth your time.
