I have been working at TIBCO Software full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

TIBCO really is a place where you can run your own business within the Vista owned mothership. That is a good thing! Lots of freedom to innovate and think outside of the box. It's a great environment to grow professionally, and take on more responsibilities and expand your role.

    Cons

The squeaky wheel gets the oil - you have an opportunity to be part of something great, but you have to go and get it. Nothing will be spoon fed.

    Advice to Management

Communication is key, and we have seen great improvements in this area. Monthly management meetings are great.

    Pros

    1. Very Good work environment.
    2. Still lot of focus on individual initiative.
    3. Marketing folks have more respect tha most other software companies
    3. Marketing does some cool and innovative stuff
    4. ability to work closely with Customers
    5. Innovative but esoteric technology- hard to learn but boy -talk about compelling software!
    6. No much bureacracy if you are working in the right department and the right boss
    7. If you establish yourself well- in a good year, the bonus rewards are substantial
    8. Health plans are generous

    Cons

Chaotic, Goals are not clearly articulated, Founder needs to spend more time on the job. Departments run better or worse depending on the will and motivation of respective executives running the departments. Some of the them are really smart and know what they are doing. Some other execuives fuggedahabout it! The stock has not improved in 8 years and options compensation sucks!

    Advice to Management

Figure out where you are going and tell everyone where you are going

    Pros

Excellent products. With the exception of some products that are being end-of-lifed most everything works great and you can be proud of what you are selling to the customer

    Cons

Top leadership has no clue how to grow the company. Vivek talks about becoming a $1B company but the way the company is run, there is absolutely no hope they can do that. Wall Street has no respect for the stock.

    Advice to Management

Invest in Brand Marketing. Get rid of Ram Menon. Brand Awareness of TIBCO is at the bottom. Despite having such great products, no one really knows TIBCO exists, and that is the reason the company cannot grow and its stock has such low valuations. Companies such as Web Methods which were a fraction of TIBCO's size got invited to more deals than TIBCO and their stock commanded greater P/E multiples just because people knew about them. Ram Menon loves to respond saying look at where those companies are (they got acquired, etc.) but the truth is TIBCO will end up in a similar fate unless it changes its attitude to Brand marketing.

    Pros

Great company that is way past its prime. Needs to do things that made it great.

    Cons

Senior management has nice cushy jobs and dont want to change anything. Why change anything, when your compensation is secure. The distance between the CEO and the customers who pay the bills is increasing day by day. Customer's success is no longer priority #1. Selling has become #1 priority. Customer success should #1. For people who strive for customer success, it is very frustrating. TIBCO has changed.

    Advice to Management

Vivek is a very smart man. He should bite the bullet and recycle senior management. They are keeping him away from customer success.
