I have been working at TIBCO Software (More than 5 years)

    Pros

it was good when it was good.

    Cons

this is not a review for good and bad, but trying to help potential current employees who need h1b sponsorship.

The moment they fire you or you decide to leave they go ahead and cancel h1b petition and green card 140 petition etc in matter of days, so thereby if you have already used your time of 6 years, you are forced to leave the country if you are laid off or if you are trying a transfer then that may not be possible..

During last year rounds of layoffs there were a few who got screwed because of this policy and had to come back to their respective home countries.

So if you decide to quit make sure your h1 is transferred before you resign.

or if you are laid off, ensure that you request management to not screw you on immigration front and wait before they cancel it.

    Advice to Management

Company founder was immigrant, lots of leadership is immigrant and this weird policy should atleast be made a little public, before you screw someones life over.

I worked at TIBCO Software full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

From the professional services point of view:

    Great benefits,
Decent commission plan (used to better but still pretty decent)
    Less workload/pressure
Good place for people who want to take some time off to relax

    Cons

Silos to begin with! There is no formal channel for services to provide feedback to engineering. New products releases are received by the customers and TIBCO services at the same time which makes the services just as unaware of the product features as the customers themselves.

On the silos, there also seems like a complete disconnect between the HR and the field managers as far as hiring is concerned. People are hired, trained and laid off without even getting an opportunity on a single project. And this seems to be a quarterly phenomena.

TIBCO has lost the race when it comes to its core capability -Integration. They have failed to adopt to the nuances in the field and seem to be only playing a game of catching up with growing players.

Despite going private, the culture of taking sole guidance from quarterly numbers doesn't seem to be changing. The commissions plans both for services and sales are still quarter based which makes every dimension myopic and lacking of any long term strategy or view.

    Advice to Management

Establish channels between your silos. You'll keep wasting money on training people and losing talent pertaining to your short term quarterly mindsets otherwise.
