I worked at TIBCO Software full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Ability to work from anywhere. Good benefits.
Distributed workforce and they never hesitated to fly a resource out w/little notice to support a client/deal.

    Cons

Tibco is irrelevant in the marketplace. Products woefully outdated - evidenced by longtime marquee clients moving off of Tibco. Core architecture is dated and ability to adapt to cloud/microservices environments is shaky. Perhaps only 35% of the "stack" works adequately - what does it say when the flagship platform release takes 2+ years to become "production ready"?

Organization is keeping lights on from successes of 5-10 years ago. Became very clear when Tibco was doing well, they simply did ELAs. The remaining salesforce who do well are largely account managers renewing those ELAs or threatening compliance action. There is simply little new logo business and continually lose out on competitive deals.

Operations and legal were the worst I've ever seen at a firm. No visibility, transparency, or accountability. When Vista came in, they hired 20-somethings to handle legal matters that were over their heads. It took weeks/months, rather than hours/days, for small items to be completed. Incredibly frustrating for clients.

The market strategy never made sense. Tibco has poor or no relations w/many SI partners, so company continually is edged out of conversations. The individual who runs partnerships is incredibly incompetent, yet protected by exec team.

Marketing is/was a disaster. Essentially consists of attaching Tibco to every new trend/development in hopes that someone won't realize how irrelevant the tech is.

Sales Mgt is made up of recycled industry clowns who spend 90% of their time churning thru spreadhseets vs helping the field.

    Advice to Management

The tech vision and leadership is terrible. How many times do you need to get up and do a TED talk and then fall on your face to become embarrassed? How many failed product launches until a change is made?

Cut the dead weight from the leadership team, most of whom have played a key role in making the company the shell of its former self.
Vista should sell off the components for as much as they can. In its current form, the company's value is held down by legacy tech that won't go anywhere.

I worked at TIBCO Software (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Its a double-edged sword, but the benefit of being owned by Vista is that there is some actual experience in the areas of operations that will improve the company.

Firm is continuing to acquire companies that are relevant in the marketplace, mostly because it can't develop anymore

    Cons

Entire market opportunity consists of firms that invested in Tibco over the last 5-10 years. Demand from new logos is non-existent. Furthermore, the top tech talent gravitate towards the largest and most probable projects so they can get paid. End result is people (nepotism abounds) who sit on large existing accts can do well, the rest starve with the remaining inexperienced resources.

Marketing generates maybe 1 qualified lead per rep each quarter.

The tech leadership hasn't launched a successful product in 3+ years and they are far behind the curve on the cloud (even though that was supposed to be the '15 deliverable). Its no wonder they are getting lumped into the 'legacy' bin.

Tibco has no partner ecosystem and no real plans on developing one other than lip service. Result is that clients are faced with a choice of internal resources and Tibco PSG only for implementation. Its a big red flag for CIOs.

Operations are a black hole, legal understaffed and confused by their own agreements. Deals get 86'd because the legal organization is inflexible.

    Advice to Management

The tools you think are going to help you execute are simply tools to micromanage and waste people's time.

    Pros

Benefits are amazing. Salary is decent. Qualified colleagues are true. Technology is amazing. Spotfire is truly amazing.

    Cons

Marketing is null. Marketing has no money. No attention towards West Coast reps. No Partner challenge. Full of hot air with no results. High management is a complete joke. Its embarrassing how they use one of the best running backs of all time as a puppet.

    Advice to Management

To mid management, leave and run as fast as you can. Upper-Tier Management are so out of touch it is so incredibly sad. TIBCO since, 1985? Really?!?! And I haven't seen one commercial, and branding is -10 out of 1 through 10. And stop "using" a former 49er as your client puppet. You might want to get somebody more relevant because using him is just old, obvious, embarrassing, and just plain weird.

    Pros

Visionary CEO, great co-workers, top tier clients and a strong value proposition.

    Cons

There has been multiple management changes within the last year. New comp plan leaves much to be desired.

    Advice to Management

I'd like to see a clearer path to career development and promotion.

    Pros

    Autonomy, smart people, work-life balance.

    Cons

In team selling opportunities, they leave it to the reps to determine the comp split. Double comp would encourage for team selling and higher ACV and TCVs

    Advice to Management

Don't be afraid of associates and managers that are not "yes' people. Listen and consider those that challenge the status quo.

Double compensate on deals where multiple reps are team selling. Many opportunities are lost because this provision is not in place.

I have been working at TIBCO Software full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Sharing culture, competitive, team oriented, benefits.

It's a large, publicly traded company that feels like a smaller almost start up in nature given people's willingness the share and assist helping each other and customers.

Brilliant developers create amazing software that makes a difference in the world. And everyone is either making software or selling software to customers in need.

Internal social network, tibbr, is great tool to find resources, share ideas, and get work done.

    Cons

Big company logistics sometimes slows things down.

    Advice to Management

    Pros

Product Set is great if you are looking for a technical job this could be for you or if you are related to the senior management

    Cons

Seniors Sales Management has no clue
Employees are treated with disrespect , I have been working for 20+ years no company remotely comes close to how mismanaged this organization is
Mid management is breaking every role possible , law suites are piling up
Bullying is rampant and part of the culture
Sales compensation is never paid. for example if you close a deal and you get X amount of commission they will offer you 50% of what you have earned and a couple of new accounts no recourse .

    Advice to Management

Please stop toying with peoples careers , get you act together, move focus from buying basketball teams to your own organization and its share holders . If you cant change that please sell the company !!
    Get a decent HR division
