I worked at TJ Maxx part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great People to work with. Management rewarded employees who worked hard for them.

    Cons

Limited benefits, very hard to advance within the company as a whole. Employees who really excelled in specific roles were not given too much opportunity to advance because they were so irreplaceable.

    Advice to Management

BE more proactive in helping employees reach their full potential. Don't hold employees back and keep them from reaching their full potential within the organization.

I worked at TJ Maxx part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Good merchandise at good prices, tightly run business.

    Cons

The pressure on staff to PUSH their credit card at EVERY customer EVERY time. The typical customer is in the store often and doesn't want to hear this pitch every single time they come in. The scheduling of staff was what made me quit. They would schedule me to stay late for closing and then come in early for opening the very next morning. Requests for schedule changes are ignored. Employees are responsible for finding their own replacement if they want to change hours. The constant watching of everything that employees do, as if it's assumed we are all dishonest crooks.

    Advice to Management

    Lighten up!

I have been working at TJ Maxx full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Always have something to keep you busy. But you will never get it done because they need you to ring up customers.

    Cons

Shouldn't get in trouble for putting the customer first and not getting a project done. Also having to ram credit cards down customers throats repeatedly is very annoying for us and for them.

    Advice to Management

Loosen up on the rewards cards. If they want one they will ask for one.

I worked at TJ Maxx part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The staff is friendly and super nice. They take care of their employees and are rather flexible with schedules. There is room to grow within the company as long as you stay and do good work

    Cons

It is hard to get hours if you aren't full time since hours are often given to the full time employees first.

    Pros

Nothing great. You could work a wide variety of hours and deal with a wide range of customer attitudes. Employee discount.

    Cons

Low paying job, entry level retail. Not a lot of room for advancement and it usually required you to make a substantial move.

    Pros

Decent pay, some staff is friendly, flexible around school schedule, hours available to pick up during the winter mainly around Christmas, decent discount from time to time normally have 10% on certain holidays you'll get 20%. Easy to het shift covered if emergency comes up to where you may have to miss work.

    Cons

Lots of favoritism so don't expect to be promoted unless your friends with management. Lazy coworkers. Young workers so a lot of people may call off,

    Advice to Management

Actually help pick up some of the slack by helping your associates that are actually trying.

I worked at TJ Maxx full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

You get a 10% discount on every day of the week and they do 20% weekends every few months. If you're full time, you get full benefits after a year of being full time I.e. Health, dental and eye insurance, life insurance, 401K, and holiday pay. They do luncheons in rewards for meeting credit app goals and charity goals too.

    Cons

A lot of hard work for very little reward. There's no commission. You have a very hard time having a life outside of work due to the crazy scheduling they do since you have to have open availability as a full timer. And when you try to leave for another job, they try to make you feel like you have more opportunities to advance you but you never will.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your associates. A lot of us work so very hard and it isn't good enough but the slackers get away with everything.
