    Pros

TLC works on many diverse types of jobs which allows you to expand your experience in many directions. The employees are great to work with and the overall atmosphere is very friendly. Management is open with financial information, so all employees know the health of the company. Overall, TLC is a great company to work for.

    Cons

Bonuses can be lacking, even when the company as a whole has a good year. Training on software you are expected to use is lacking to non-existent at times.

    Advice to Management

Provide better training for software programs employees are expected to be able to use. Adjust the bonus structure to better compensate employees based on overall company performance rather than just based on divisional performance.

I have been working at TLC Engineering for Architecture full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

TLC offers the best experience in consulting engineering. The management focuses on delivering excellent service and products while valuing their employees as the best asset. The projects are top notch, high profile work. Your focus is on your clients but you are never treated as a number. In-house training and advancement is available to all employees. Managers discuss your future goals and assist you in getting there. TLC has been in business over 60 years and it shows. They have figured out an excellent balance between work/life for the employees.

    Cons

Some of the middle management will not break from design practices that are outdated. Extra busy work is created because of this. Things could be done more efficiently if standards were followed by all employees, including the project managers.

    Advice to Management

Iron out the details of the company standards, abandon old ways of design and use the tools on hand for more efficient processes. Develop a mentoring program so lower level employees can discuss career options with management.

I worked at TLC Engineering for Architecture part-time

    Pros

Good training, very smart and helpful employees. Good use of new design software (Revit MEP). Upper management is very good. Great learning experience for interns.

    Cons

Very busy environment. Sometimes the company takes on too many projects at once. Coordination when working on projects with offices that share the same region can cause the work to get a little messy.

    Advice to Management

Beware of overloading employees with too many projects.

I worked at TLC Engineering for Architecture full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great place to get experience and learn the business. Some of the best people you can work with. If you prove yourself to be good at your job, you can work on some interesting projects. When times are good, bonuses were good. Company cell phones are provided in this position. Has financial assistance program for education related to position. Will also pay for FE and PE exams and study books.

    Cons

They claim they have a mentorship program but they really don't. Can never seem to hire enough of people to support the work load. A lot of salary folks can get screwed by the overtime required. Pay could be better for what you have to go through. When times are bad, no bonuses. Don't let them trick you into thinking that a bonus will make up for the overtime. Favoritism to concern staff exist, so beware. Healthcare benefits seem to change on a yearly basis

    Advice to Management

Give your project managers the staff support they need to do the project right. Be more aggressive on hiring staff sooner as not to burn out the ones you have. Believe a change to the staff structure/position is needed inside the division level. The annual review process is crap!
